Annoying NameJet user - Minimum Increments at the last min

Anyone else experience any annoying bidders on NameJet? I had an auction that only me and this other person was on and they only bid at the very last minute and only bid the minimum. This kept resetting the time left to 5 min. I'm guessing they have some automated system doing it.

I checked the user out last time before they put they're whois under privacy, and they had at least 5000+ domains.

I understand the strategy but talk about annoying.

I have seen bidders do it on Go Daddy Auctions where no exaggeration, it went on for 12 hours, min bidding back and forth.

Yes some people use software to do their bidding, and it will bid in minimum increments every so often. There is nothing wrong with this though, many people wait to bid until the very last second. Software or not, it is very common. And as Equity78 mentioned, they can go on for hours this way.

12 Hours??? That's just plain crazy. Guess one of the drawbacks for live users participating in auctions that continuously extend when there is activity in the final moments. But then again, you have the chance to think about bidding more money.

It has a big impact. I'm sure it wears other bidders out psychologically to the point where they give up bidding and let the name go.

Today, I was doing minimal bids just to give me more time to think about it plus I was in other auctions at the same time. And I was trying to find the reserve, but finally got underwearclub . com out of it.

This doesn't work on NameJet. I doubled the amount and had to wait for 4 min for the persons system to bid minimum increments. That's the annoying thing.

Going to start doing that I think. I'll figure out how much I want to pay for the name and just place that bid in the final 5 min of the auction and let the cards fall where they may.

What i mean is there must be a max amount they input into their software. if you reach this point the software will stop bidding. Just doubling the bid won't stop it but say they put a max of $1000, well if you bid $1025, the software will stop bidding.

Sometimes the proxy bids are irritating and last minute are more irritating.
Bid high and kick the irritating bidders..

In the real world of live auctions, the auction isn't going to drag on for hours because of the clock resetting each time an automated system places a bid in the final minute of the auction. That's my biggest gripe is that the auction drags out for ever in these instances.

Even if I bid high, I still have to wait possibly hours for the auction to end before I even know if I won or not.

If I was NameJet, would I implement an auction system like that? Most likely Yes. Why? Because it gives more opportunity for last minute bidders and people to think about spending more money. It's all about squeezing every dollar they can.

Just like dropcatch auctions allows anyone to participate in auctions, even if they don't put backorders in. Very irritating to the people who actually put backorders in. But very smart of dropcatch since it will equate to more dollars for them. I wouldn't be surprised if NameJet does that as well.

Are all of these in the rules, of course. Are they irritating, absolutely!

It was a pre-release domain, so there is no 'seller'. Just NameJet.

By 'seller' I obviously mean the person or organization that ultimately gets this ever increasing final price. They will be fine with these 'annoying' buyers.
