The domain is being about to be sold for $500,000.

One of the most popular Russian internet website anekdot.ru is now a subject-to-buy by one of the biggest internet holding in Russia RBC (RosBusinessConsulting - www.rbc.ru). RBC feels the trend and started buying interesting domain names in .RU. Dmitry Verner, the actual creator of anekdot.ru, never owned the domain. He even didn't know that since he started the project 10 years ago the domain changed ownership several times. RBC contacted Mr Verner with an offer be he rejected. Then RBC started annoying him and all anekdot.ru team with aim to grab the domain alone. At the moment the situation is still not clear. RBC wants the domain but the domain will loose popularity if sold without the 10 years database collected by Mr Verner. Mr Verner stand against the sale and his team just launched a new site for the project www.verner.ru.

ANEKDOT stands for JOKE in Russian.

Recent big sale of .RU domains was HH.RU in private sale (experts consider the amount of $150,000)

I remember me reading anekdot.ru for a while, as this was the #1 joke site, IMO worth more than $500k so the buyer is getting kind of a bargain on that one! :\

I hope they don't mess it up and don't turn it into a SEDO site :lol:
