I am posting here because this is the proper place to discuss this. I am following the android phone trend and I am interested in understanding what is happening with domains that relate to android platform applications.
MANY android related domain names (not necessarily with the word "android" in them) have been taken quietly since Google announced that it would roll its platform. Many of these domains already have applications being offered. My guess (and it is only a guess) is that google shouldn't bother too much if somebody makes an application for the android platform that combines a similar name to android with the application... say for example androweather or something alike.
There is a "dispute" at the moment relating the "Android" mark. Apparently, it was denied by the USPTO and Google might be fighting that denial.
