Guys.. I knew that android would be amazing, but not *THIS* amazing!

Everything from video chat, to facial recognition, to interactive phonebooks with your friends moods, to amazing location based services... I will wait a few months and go with android!!! Wow..

This is the top list of the 50 apps up for review:
http://code.google.com/android/images/adc1r1_deck.pdf

Looking through that PDF, each page is amazing!!! 46 pages of bliss. I had no idea Android would be like this.

I am sooo glad I did not get the Iphone.
Just wanted to share those top apps for everyone and get everyone pumped up about Android!!! I am literally drooling at the mouth and telling everyone about this PDF!! :D

Android is the open source mobile phone operating system google has been working on for a while now. In theory it can be put on any phone, however I believe google is going to start coming out with some phones with it on it. The rumor is tmobile will have the first Android phone, but that varies depending on who you talk with, especially cause tmobile doesnt even have a 3G network in the US.

It will probably be the best OS ever. It's open source, like linux, which means it will be constantly updating and improving. Why go to the "mobile store" and purchace apps for it when you can make your own for free, or download other programs from anywhere.

Pretty nice concept - The reason it will be much better than anything, to include the iphone, blackberry, and windows mobile is because google is making it :D Also the fact they are offering $10,000,000 of prizes to the best App developer. People have been creating apps for this thing a long time now evern before its official release. Because its open source, anyone can view the entire code of the operating system and also develop apps for it.

This is 180 degree difference than Apple, locking down its phone completely, making you use X service with it, making you buy X from X stores to upgrade it etc.

Will be amazing to see when it launches. :D

adroid will provide open source code to mobile company to make it easier to develop applications and cheaper phone. It will be cheaper because no expenses to develop and improve the mobile os. This open up competition to apple iphone.

Apple is known to provide the a better technology design, other company needs to beat that. If other company can provide a better phone with iphone, they got my vote.

the adroid phone demo is not comparable to iphone (yet!)

I reg'd some AndroidPhoneXXXX.com names before I understood the trademark consequences. They are currently unparked and undeveloped, just sitting in limbo.

I was planning to let them expire.

Does anyone have any alternative suggestions for what to do with them?

Thanks!

You could drop them. This is pushing them out of your account before they expire.. or cancel them, whatever you want to call it. I know in GoDaddy you just check the domain and click "Cancel Selected". Most registrars can do this, might have to call them.

Just a word of note though, Linux is TM'd but doesnt stop some very popular sites from containing this TM in the domain.

Good luck whether you keep or kill them :)

You'll be happy you waited for the Android when it comes out and competes with the iphone.

Until Apple, much like it did with it computer line, unveils iPhone bootcamp which allows you to use both operating systems on the iPhone. haha.

Apple really doesn't have anything to worry about. There's room for both and I'm 100% in love with my iPhone.

Googles' registration for the term Android has been denied due to Android Data having a valid trademark registration in a similar category as Google registered in.

Android seems like an updated mobile friendly version of Java to me.

Does it 'ring' and can you talk on it?

I picked up androidtheme.net, so I hope it really takes off.

I picked up AndroidElectronics . com because it sounds like a good company name and is not trademarked. Anybody wonder if Google might change the name since their trademark for Android was denied?

This sounds amazing! I'd never heard much about this before, at least not this much info. This sounds like it will surely surpass the iphone. I will definitely think about getting one when it coems out.

Does that mean if Google continues to use the name Android in this category, they are violating the Android Data's TM?

Yeah ... basically, they are. I saw the final letter of denial sent to them.
