.mobi An idea

After long and careful though I have decided not to pursue an idea and, in case anyone is interested or has a better idea about how to move forward with the set of still avaialble mobis, I ll post it here. I was going to register the slate of ..metroarea.mobi domains. So, as far as I can tell, almost all if not all of the .mobis (dcmetroarea, nycmetroarea, lametroarea, seattlemetroarea etc..) are still free. I was going to do something with tourist attractions at all those sites but recognize I will never get around to it and have wasted a lot of reg fees in the process. If anyone does decide to register them let me know what your plans are. thanks

"MetroArea" .mobi's are a bit of a stretch ... but the development concept is excellent, IMHO. :music:

I agree, gotta remember, these are sites that people will be visiting on the mobile device (cell phone, blackberry ...) and for them to type all that in would be useless almost.

Even if it was Chicagoarea.mobi it still might be too long, unless properly marketed of course!

yep

dont disagree it is long but you are also not going to find a compilation of mobis that can used and easy to brand across all major us cities. The point is not to think about one of them but all of them together. I agree 100% it is not worth registering one or two but all of them I think offers great possibilities. And, again, I am not going to do it because I am lazy but someone with more time on their hands might.....

Can't forget the search engines though.

This reminds me of cyberken13's FiftyStates.mobi project which will be a hub for all 50 of the StateOf"Name".mobi domains. Relevant interlinking of the domains could prove useful for SEO.

i think registering cityMETRO.mobi would be much better than cityMETROarea.mobi which i think would be worthless even if you had every major city.
