This is more a rhetorical question then about my example names. But when we buy names and park them with a keyword, do we forever pigeon hole them into that keyword? And doesn't that sort of narrow down the pool of end users?

Examples - I have 2 name that I bought a few years ago (friends shouldn't let friends bid drunk...sigh). One is PB{blah}.com and the other is RACING{blah}.com, both parked with minimal traffic. Instead of just dumping them now I thought to do enough development to get a little traffic going and then sell.

Sooo....

PB{blah} is parked with a Paint Ball keyword and I could easily develop a bit and snatch some of that traffic. But seriously, if my final intention is to sell, there are already a billion paintball sites out there. So you lose the PeanutButter, PawnBroker, PimpBros end users when ready to market.

Same with RACING{blah}. This one I have casually played with the parking keywords a bit and although utterly generic, it oddly does a bit better with horse racing. So I guess that little bit makes this name a horse racing site forever?

As I said, I was just curious whether others have thoughts along these lines when categorizing an ambiguous name.

I guess I don't deal with these names very often. If you have names that you want to sell, you could put a generic template on the site and list the various uses and appeal to all niches.

If someone really likes the name, it makes no difference what parking keyword you're using - they're going to put their own content on it anyway.
