Am I missing something here??

This is not meant to offend anyone, but I recently started various new advertising campaigns including one on NP through AdBrite.

Advertising rates vary quite a bit from one site to another, obviously based on volume and views etc. and NP is most definitely on the low end of the scale as far as dollars/impressions goes.

What I don't get is how another forum, with less members and less posts than NP, who claim to be bigger than NP although they are not, can charge $5000 a month for a banner advertisement.

Is anyone buying this?

Most of you will know the forum I am referring to.

I'm all for free market and all but that is just ridiculous.

Way to go NamePros. You are definitely proving to be the leader in the domain name community with no membership fees, the best advertising rates in the community and the best membership in the community.

I did advertizing kind of like that before, paid several people in the city to drive around with a bumbersticker advertizing my site.

The funny thing is people will actually pay the price. $5,000 could be a good deal for some sites, but if it's smaller than NamePros than I would avoid it.
