Its nice but my big beef with laptops are, for me I would have to get such a high end one, theres no way I could actually keep it in my "lap" because of the heat it will generate.

Unless its absolutly needed, I would say go with a desktop, cheaper and better hardware. But good specs, will last a while, and will be able to use it for most things, as long as there is a desk around so not to burn your lap.

Good selection, Alienware is known for performance and good quality in their laptops. You pay for what you get.

Umm, sorry to spoil this but it's not that good..

I've got pretty much that specs except half ram and no alienware additions. Oh and not as good a gfx card. I bought this laptop for £400 - thats $715. Leaving $1k for upgrades. Although, however, alienware are a good brand and this one isn't as well known.. but it works perfectly anyway.

It is indeed a good choice, but if you can, buy a desktop. Desktop can be from Alienware, not an issue. The reason why I dont go for a Laptop is because if you want to upgrade it in future, it will cost you like a new desktop. Parts for laptops are generally very expensive.
