AJAX text updater

Hi, I am looking for an AJAX script that updates text. I don't want an inline updater, but rather something like this:

User enters his or her profile id and some text is generated below that includes the updated information without refreshing the page. Sorry it is hard to explain.

I will try again.

A text input box is on the page where the user inputs there profile id (such as soju). Then the user clicks a button and some code is generated below it (such as Your Profile ID is soju).

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

What you are looking for is probably easiest in Js/Php.

I dont have access to my javascript ajax file atm which I use for a similar thing, and nor could i write it off by heart.

But basically the java file takes the input value, sends it to a php file and then the php file will 'echo' what you want to be displayed. JS then updates the named html element.

If no one else gets this done, ill have a look after work tonight.

Try w3schools for more info, they have a tutorial very similar to this.

Got it figured out on another forum. Thanks for the help. Good site to look at, too.
