Industry insiders believe this project represents a leap far beyond Meta's current Llama models.

I can tell you from firsthand conversations that "industry insiders" are of the opinion that Meta is not yet competitive in the space, despite their sizable investments. They need a significant leap just to catch up with the competition.

It's not surprising that Meta is working on a new architecture called Avocado. It seems like big companies are preparing for a new wave of AI models. If it advances beyond the Llama line, 2026 could really change the game in the AI industry. For us, it's important to remain adaptable in our skills, finances, and tech use. Such changes often bring new opportunities instead of just challenges.

Google and OpenAI have pulled so far ahead over the past few weeks. There were concerns that progress was plateauing, but the latest models prove otherwise. Meta is quickly falling even further behind. They have even retreated from some initiatives due to poor ROI.

Thanks. I feel the same way. When big changes bring challenges, they usually create new opportunities too.

Why are they so eager to be the best or number one in the industry? I really dislike that competitive spirit... I appreciate ai ideas and inventions, but with the way things are heading, it's going to be tough to live in this world.

1. It makes teachers and students lazy these days.

2. I asked my junior pastor to prepare a sermon along with a prayer and fasting plan for 70 days for the upcoming year, and he had the report ready in under an hour. But i could tell it wasn't divinely inspired, so i turned it down.
Profits
Strategic and commercial advantage
Ego

To name a few....

I do believe so. The first one to break through will move fast. The trend definitely feels that way. I work across several AI ecosystems, and thatโ€™s just the pattern Iโ€™m seeing from hands-on use.

I get what you mean. The race to be โ€˜number oneโ€™ feels exhausting, especially in tech where everything moves at lightning speed. Companies chase the top spot because thereโ€™s money, power, and bragging rights attached to it but that mindset doesnโ€™t always make the world better for the rest of us.

And yeah, Iโ€™ve noticed the same thing with teachers and students. AI makes some things easier, but it also makes it tempting to take shortcuts. Itโ€™s helpful, sure, but it shouldnโ€™t replace actually learning or teaching.

The balance is getting trickier as the tools get stronger.
