Sam Altman says AI-generated images are worth zero. Domainers who reject AI tools seem to agree with him.

But here's the paradox: you trade in purely digital assets, yet you don't trust digital intelligence?

I wrote about this contradiction, what Altman actually does, and why the domain industry's AI resistance doesn't add up.

Curious where this community lands on it.

The closing line in your article perfectly sums up how I feel about the AI revolution:
The resistance will fade. It always does, not because the critics are convinced, but because the market moves on without them.

Uncharted change brings uncertainty, and this is a source of anxiety for many in the workforce. I don't want to end up like the displaced factory workers who failed to adapt to post-industrial America. Those who choose to ignore the imminent seismic shift risk falling behind.

I work in a field that has already undergone radical change due to AI, allowing us to accomplish 10x the work in the same amount of time. The pace of change is only going to accelerate.

Nowadays, I help companies integrate AI into their business processes. My work will be showcased at Google Next 2026 to help demonstrate how businesses are using AI. The impact of AI on society goes FAR beyond content creation (which seems to be where the public is focused at this point).

Ai is not your friend.

I wouldn't call it scary good, but it's above average.

It certainly has the potential to be scary good in a year or two.

That's scary.

Ai will improve and helpful in many sectors. At the same time adoptability matters more then usage.
Soon in a year or two, it will be in more use cases then we think.. I think personally!

OP you've tried to spin what Sam Altman said on Ai images/art, you have spun it as though he thinks its crap and "domainers who reject AI tools seem to agree with him." his actual quote was:-

"If you show someone an image and say 'I'll sell you this piece of art and an AI made it and it's beautiful' but you know an AI made it, the value that people put on that effectively rounds to zero."

That is true, people value human creativity more, but that doesn't mean Ai art is not good or even better than art created by a human.

Me personally i think Ai is amazing, i use ChatGPT and Grok a lot - Ai (namely AGI) as the potential to transport humanity 100 years into the future in 10 years, same time it as potential to be used by bad actors and even destroy the world, but no matter what you think of it (love it or hate it) its not going away and people who don't use it are going to fall behind those who do.

Hi

iโ€™d call it scary bad

by just looking at what it can do digitally, with all of itโ€™s future potential
and not looking at what it is doing to physical world, the water, land and power it needs to survive, along with what it will need to support itself in the futureโ€ฆ is very shortsighted

you donโ€™t want it to be a โ€œTo Big To Shut Downโ€ entity, where the needs of a eye come before those of its creators

:)

imoโ€ฆ

The scary thought is that the current generation of Ai will be the dumbest it will ever be......

It is doubling in complexity every 2 months or so.....

Let that sink in.....

It can't grow exponentially at this rate due to human limitations...power and hardware limitations for example....

But ....

Changes are afoot....jobs will be lost, new drugs will be discovered, automation will be the norm, multi model functions ( voice, image and video will blend naturally together) and this just the tip of iceberg that springs to mind....within 2 years.....

Start to dig into robotics, military, IOT, misinformation, fraud, and augmentation etc etc..... and it's pretty bloody scary

AI is an increment in making the human race go extinct, period. They will sugar coat it and say no way but its the truth. They made it to replace humans because we are alive and automation and robotics can run 24/7 and we only need a fraction of the the earths population to maintain them. Yuck! :( and i ask it all the time for advice all ready, lol.

Humans will only survive as a species long term by augmenting with machines and Ai

We've had natural selection, it's now approaching the age of machine selection.....

NEWSWORTHY NUMBER

54%
Share of US teens, ages 13-17, who use AI chatbots to do their schoolwork, according to a new Pew Research Center survey, including 10% who say they donโ€™t get through any or most assignments without the extra assistance.

Thatโ€™s up from 26% in 2024 and just 13% in 2023, signaling a growing reliance on bots that critics warn can hinder studentsโ€™ critical thinking skills, per The New York Times. What do teens think of that? Many will probably have to ask ChatGPT.

[note how it kept doubling every year]

AI is a powerful tool but in domaining human instinct still plays a big role. The smartest approach may be combining both

Adaptation has always been the real advantage in any industry.
