I think that it would be a good idea if we had a forum where there would only be adults allowed. No... not for posting porn but where adult domains and sites can be added for sale/trade purposes. This would include certain credentials that are cookied into your browser that remembers that you are allowed to view that forum.
The only part of this process that I have not worked out is how to verify the users age...

Any thoughts or am I alone on this one? :hearts:

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

We can make it an Adults Only forum that would require a user to specifically request access to it, but wouldn't that prove to be a disservice to getting your threads seen?

Interested in hearing more opinions about this. I'm open to anything. Adult domain owners, please stand up and share your thoughts.

I strongly believe that an adult only forum will be beneficial to both adult domain owners and other users of this site in serveral different aspects.

Adult domains will not be listed with other domains in forums that others may or may not find offensive.

Individuals looking for adult only domain names will find what they are looking for faster and directly rather than posting requests for adult related domains in forums browsed by many whom may feel awkwardly to viewing such requests and respond by no longer participating in this community. And the thread starter may never get a chance to find what he/she is searching for and many of us that deal w/adult domain may never have an opportunity to offer our domains for sale and possibly lose our chance to turn a profit in a very difficult indusrty.

These are just a few thoughts that I had before I started this thread- I have deliberated long and hard before deciding to do so and felt that Labelong a topic "adult" was a sure fire guarantee to get "black balled" and the thread pushed to never-nerver-land.

Please consider these and other justifcations presented by other members of this community, thanks for hearing me out.

I can only speak for myself, but when I am browsing, looking for bargains, I'm not going to purchase an adult name. I'm not offended when I come across one in the sales thread, but it would not be of any interest to me.

By having an adult section, it would streamline the other sales threads (one less type of name I would have to read before I moved on to others on the list).

I don't believe it would jeopardize potential sales of adult names as they would be available for viewing with one click of your mouse.

Coastal... I have noticed a definate difference when offering an adult realted domain in with "other" domains than offering "other" domains in a public arena

I definitely agree with these points. Please consider implementing this change, thanks.

I'm definately considering. My main question before implementing is how to control access to the forum, or to control access to it.

Should people have to enter an age, or agree to a disclaimer to have access to the forum?

Or should it be enabled by default and have an option for users to hide it if it doesn't interest them.

Or make it open and unrestricted like our current marketplace forums.

These are the questions I'm kicking around.

I know this isn't going to be a popular opinion, or affect the decision, but I'd like to NOT see adult domains on NamePros.

First I don't think it's going to attract the right kind of people/thinking, and secondly I suspect at least 50% of the active membership is not legal or just barely (under 21 not 18).

Even with some kind of age verification system, you know that kids are going to bypass it easily and in the end, the admin will be liable.

Is the bandwidth worth it? Think about it.

RJ, i think that the disclaimer would be beneficial for self protection purposes. I would also reccomend some type of AVS (age verification system) be put in place, I am actually trying to build by own at the moment using drivers licences, but the hard part would be international visitors... just my2 cents

aww, you make it sound like people are suggesting RJ add a porn section to the site! How will bandwidth be greatly increased just by adding an adult domains forum? :-/

I think the age disclaimer is probaly the best way to go.It will not stop everyone who is underage from viewing the adult section but at least it is a warning.

Sounds like good ideas all around.

I agree with the notion of a forum-behind-a-door concept.

Whether you make the door akin to a beaded curtain or a safe vault is a matter of comfort level for those with the liability. I probably wouldn't buy/sell there, especially being an elected official ;)..
