Hey guys, I have had this question for a while... I do need to sit down many hours and read the TOS, but does anyone know off the top of their head: Can I put adsense on a controversial site?

Example: A blog that posts the daily stupidity of humans. From politicians, to celebreties.. just the stupid things they do. No fowl language would be used, but users would be writing blogs.. could be a bit slanderous.. example "man paris hilton, you should have blah blah..(cant think of example at the moment)"

Any advice would be apreciated! Thanks very much.

If you are going to publish, you should be able to think of examples easily.

Controversial site? Sure.

You may want to know the differences between slander and libel. Once you do, you can figure out for yourself if you are breaking any laws.

If you are, then Google says no:
"Any other content that is illegal, promotes illegal activity, or infringes on the legal rights of others"

I cannot predict what users are going to write.

Thanks for that info, I will look up both slander and libel.

Another good example is a teacher rating site where users comments could be "I hate XX teacher he should die" or "X Teacher is such a (fill in the blank)" This I think would be going past the controversial site model and moving towards being vulgar.

I may need to check with the legal section of the forum. Thanks a bunch though for your input!

When all else fails - just ask them. Give them the url to view the content and get their answer. That way you don't get a nasty surprise down the road, or don't use them when you could have!

Better ask Google support. But problem is usually they send you the automated mail asking to read the TOS, most of the time. If you can't control what users do or say then that would be a problem. I don't think Google would take that as a excuse.

post your questions directly on their forum/newsgroup

but be warned that it's a newsgroup style of a forum so no holds barred on the comments of others that receives your thread via email
