what percentage of members in your forums do you think are active?

im just interested to know so i can see how many users im gonna need roughyl for my forums to seem like theyre being used

That depends on the forum

One forum I belong to was active for about three months
Then we all ran out of stuff to talk about
and now it might get a post once a month

Other forums just take off and keep going and going
Like this one (I have been here just about from the begining)

Keep your forum interesting and marketed and they will post often

That depends from forum to forum. If it's like with namepros, which a lot of people call their virtual home, you don't need a lot.
There aren't a lot of people that spend their days and nights on namepros (probably about 200 - but the mods can say for sure), but they're dedicated, leaning on fanatical (:D). I'm only sorry I haven't been one of them lately.

Anywhere from 5% to 15% I think would be pretty accurate figures.

Also depends on how you define "active". We have a lot of members that visit weekly or monthly that I still consider as active, though their post counts are much lower than you'd see from regulars.

that all depends on the type of forum like if its a teen forum of course teens are going to be the more active ones, but if its something like NamePros, you will never know as there are a fair amount of teens in here and a fair amount of adults, so it all depends on the forum

It depends what you class active, technically it's those who have made a post....I have about 50-60% active but only around 20% visit and post daily, the others lurk!
