I noticed when this sold at sedo in March of this year because I am a news junkie and watch the CNN show Anderson Cooper 360. AC360.com sold for
$12,901. Well, apparently it was CNN who bought it as the new site just went live yesterday I believe. Take a look at it:

Good news for domainers.

Still 360 suffix needs more popularity boosts to work
I remember when i stopped the 360 registrations that Norton360 was not enough
Also many alternative TLDs are also available (.net.org....) this descrease the value of the suffix

It beats me who else would have been bidding for AC360.com besides CNN.

True..every little helps and CNN using them is a nice bonus :tu: , at the end of the day its just a brandable niche, I'v have a couple of them.

The only thing that springs to my mind is maybe an Air conditioning firm ?

Now WHY did they buy it? Did they know/think it was capturing traffic that might otherwise be theirs? Did they find ac360.cnn.com or cnn.com/ac360 too unwieldy, or realize it might be easier to flash on the screen and be remembered?

My first thought was it was a domainer who realized the show is seen by millions. Kind of like a domainer getting 60minutes.com thinking they could make a profit.

Actually, CNN could have tried to just take the domain if they wanted don't you think? Maybe not quite enough of a brand yet?
