I hope not

The problem is "autonomous" has 10 characters
Most others words used as in conjunction are also likely to have around 7-10 characters
Cant see it fitting on advertising, logos, business cards, etc
Fails many social media handle lengths
And Id take a wild shot in the dark, but I bet many people will make typos
Take autonomousaviation (com) good for SEO but
I cant see it lasting....

No, its split down the middle

MANY companies use the full word, and MANY use the abbreviation
Both are used by major players in the industry
I would say the full word probably has a slight majority from what I found on the first 20 pages of Google
Further research required

Autonomous is an awkward word with not much room for play and if it's shortened in anyway it loses its original meaning. But if you find some keywords that are perfect match for it you might still be able to use it in its original form to make some good domains.

....also for aerospace

One good thing about it is that the auto complete recognizes it when you get about half way through typing so you don't have to type the whole word (at least that's how it is on my smartphone). Maybe that's where they got the Autono from.
