I've had better weeks.
Just so all my Namepros friends know: My ex-mother-in-law, with whom I still had an important relationship, was terminally ill and suffered from severe dementia. My ex-father-in-law, a steady and and awesome man, could no longer take it, so he facilitated her journey into the next world and then left this world as well. He couldn't live without her, and yet he couldn't stand to see her suffer so much.
Please. Don't judge my father-in-law. He loved his wife and family fiercely. I can tell you this: the manner of their death does not diminish the fullness and love in their lives. In fact, I applaud his courage. Besides, the manner of their death does not define their happy times and lives.
I love both of them, and my grief stems from the fact that I (and their family, including my son, their grandson) will miss them tremendously. A generation is gone, just like that. I'm sad.
And still in a state of shock.
