I just got a reply from someone with a nice name that I enquired how much he was selling it for.

"the price is $7,000,000. If noone pays me this amount, i will simply let the domain expire. I have enough money as it is."

 must be nice to be rich eh !

Has anyone else had funny/strange replies ?

LoL...

I had at one point last year delt with a Man who was intentionally letting his domain expire so that he could collect a % from SnapNames. I explained that even if the domain name fetched $10k - He would only recieve 10-20%.

He continued to explain to me that selling domains was not his primary business, and even if he doesnt make much money, its ok.

I explained that any business where you dont try to maximize your assetts is a bad business model....

No response after that.... LoL.

He did let the domain go to Snap... and it did sell for about 7k.

at least the auction houses will get some money out of him.

The biggest price I got in response from somebody with a good domain was $20.000.000. You can't beat that at least :)

Why would he get anything from snapnames? Registrars get the money, not the individuals who let the domains expire.

Really. Seems strange to me. After the domain expires its no longer theirs, so why would they get the money? How does the person get the money? I've let some names expire that went through snapnames and got nothing.

If it was with Network Solutions, you get a percentage.

I let a few drop there and I actually got a check from NetSol in the mail.

I had an inquiry for a domain where the buyer was pleading poverty from the beginning. I replied "Don't worry, this domain is only for sale to somebody with lots of money". I thought that was a strong enough signal for him to go away. But anyhow, he still came back and bought the domain (after haggling me down).
