What is the official term for an extension like: snore.com/prevention?
If you own the extension ie.. snore.com, how do you add on the additional ending? I have noticed (on TV and mags) that alot of companies have a great one-word name, but add on an ending extension. Thank you for your help

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
/prevention is a folder which has some sort of index file inside of it.

Companies tend to use the /directory to better measure their advertisements. For example, their tv commercial displays anydomain.com/tv but their radio ad is anydomain.com/radio. If traffic for both ads was originating on the homepage, they would have no real way of measuring how effective their advertisements are.

If you FTP to your domain either through webftp at your hosting provider or using filezilla or other FTP program. You can create folders under the main domain root (snore.com/)

Your domain root will have index.htm or index.php as its main page. for example "http://www.snore.com/index.htm".You can have the same file names in the folders as well "http://www.snore.com/prevention/index.htm" but the content may be different in each.

You can create as many folders and sub folders as you wish. Using html commands, you can navigate to all the pages.

Many hosts allow you to create subdomains as well. These are seperate websites, example "http://www.prevent.snore.com". You create these at your host using the domain that you have hosted there example "www.snore.com".
