A new type of squatter ?

Whilst researching Trademarks, I noticed a few new applications for 'ipad' trademarks submitted this year. Maybe it's just my suspicious mind, but could this be a new type of squatting ? Are they genuine or are they hoping that Apple will come along with a financial settlement to take control of the the trademark.

The ones by IP Application Development? That's suspected to be a dummy corporation owned by Apple. They've gone that route before.
