Is there such a thing? I just got back from the movies and realized that all movies have a website, but the downside is that they all contain the word movie or film at the end of the domain. If we had a .mov TLD, possibly only avaliable to movie makers, wouldnt that make things easier?

EDIT:
Just found http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-discussion/114599-movies-tld-mov-or-movie.html

I found this doing a google search after a namepros search was unsuccesful :(

I think it will be too limited usage. If this were a good idea, then .show .magic .ballet .opera will follow.

Well in my opinion .mm would be great for multimedia , includes all sounds videos etc

I think the creation of new Extensions will become less and less within the next year... and hopefully stop!

The creation of these pointless and noticably UNUSED domain extensions is pointless.

I think its a good idea - it'll be more memorable for users too, so instead of

filmnameMOVIE.com or www.picturesco.com/filmname it would simply be filmname.mov

Making it open only to film makers is a good idea.

When there is no money in it. But people will always be blinded by the possibility of getting a good domain and making big bucks.

There are so many ideas like this... but they are all pointless in the long run! With so many extensions for everything, everyone will be lost as it requires people to memorise an extension for ever subject!

The web is crowded enough as it is without this... not only that, I guarantee the film makers would not use a ".MOV" extension alone. This would change the usual FILMNAMEmovie.com format that people have come to expect from movie makers, why change it when there is nothing that needs to be changed?

What's wrong with using .com?

Precisely! filmnameMOVIE.com is the KNOWN and EXPECT format... there is nothing that needs to be changed IMHO

Has there been any studies done on the affects of TLD oversaturation?

Well that would be a true statement if every movie followed that format. I have seen MOVIEfilmname.com

Heres a few examples:
failuretolaunchmovie.com
disney.go.com/disneypictures/shaggydog/
www2.foxsearchlight.com/thehillshaveeyes/
16blocks.warnerbros.com/
sonypictures.com/movies/thepinkpanther/
