Just wondering if NAME PROS will be allowing .ME appraisal's soon. There seems to be alot of interest in the .ME extension, however there are definately 2 sides of the fence here.. I side thinking it's a fantastic extension and the other thinking it's a waste of time. I don't know... but with names like toyota.me going for over 90k for initial registration and insure.me over 55K, I would say that there has got to be something here!!

What do ya think?? Lets get a .ME appraisal thread going soon!

Cheers!

???

You can appraise any names you want here, as long as you own them.

EDIT

My bad.

Looks like .me can't be appraised yet.

Sorry!

There is no reason to 'appraise' them. There is nothing to base an appraisal on.

There is no real sales track record. The only real recorded sales apart from a few on sedo have been at the auction with some of the largest sales all going to one twit registering TM domains.

They have next to no traffic.

99.9% of Internet users have no clue .me exists.

99.9% of companies not only have no clue it exists - they don't use it nor are they likely to any time soon.

A few inflated sales in the registry auction doesn't create a market. The only value these have has been from domainers buying them. I see lots of brand new members buying into this extension and claiming it's this and that and trying to give values based on absolutely nothing. Makes no sense.

With so many new extensions on the horizon I don't think any new extension should be open for appraisals for at least six months after release.

At this point I think it largely depends how you cast your appraisal request. I believe Roy's point addresses inquiries such as "Please appraise OlympicSwimmer.me", yet I'll contend it's perfectly fair to ask "How much would you be willing to pay for OlympicSwimmer.me?" The latter question approximates reseller value, which is what most appraisers respond to appraisal requests with anyway and lurks more useful than leaving the .me registrant in the dark.

In my opinion, the ultimately fate of .me popularity largely rests in domainers' hands. More domainers believing their .me's are worth something engenders more domainers actively marketing their .me's to end-users, and by sheer probability more end-users will buy. I believe a critical mass of 5-figure sales among corps. that have ascended the brand later will foster the media attention .me's will need to begin taking off. If this hyperspace launch doesn't happen before this coming year's Superbowl, watch for GoDaddy to play its .me harp strings (the player being some attractive, scantily-clad swimsuit model) during the Superbowl half-time show, launching a worldwide wave of .me registration orgies. This is what I believe AND hope, considering I won an awesome .me in a Sedo auction today :)

Thanx for the responses! They prove my point! 2 sides of the fence! LOL! ;)

Guess we will have to wait and see.... But, I too am hoping they prove to be popular.

Put it this way - just about every single .me worth anything to anyone went to auction. Now you now how much they are worth for the next while. Those that didn't go to auction are probably (with the odd exception of course) worth regfee or less at this point.

Rome wasn't built in a month and neither will .me.
