"A hot rumor going around this week says AOL bought Games.com in the $10-$11 million range. We haven't been able to confirm anything but the public WhoIs record did change a few days ago with AOL now shown as the owner"

has anyone heard any more on this potential sale?

Yes, heard it. The sale seems to be true - no word on the actual sale figures though, not sure where dnjournal got $10-$11m from but who knows.

Wooow... that's bloody strange. I was just using the Whois and looked up Games.com to check if it was working... I saw that I said AOL in the registry and there was no sign of their Logo or anothing and "Games.com" site design looks rubbish... So I discarded it.

That is wierd as hell... because it was about 20 mins ago that I did this and noticed!

Yeah the web design sure isn't up to par.. If AOL did in fact buy Games.com, i'm sure some major renovation is in store

It really wouldnt surprise me if they bought Games.com.. they are a big enough corporation that own names like:

AOL.com, AOL.net, AOL.co.uk (obviously)
Love.com
ICQ.com
Winamp.com
Netscape.com
CS.com

It's Just another one to thier portfolio!
