There are 2 kinds of people who jack-up the price tag AFTER you agreed to buy the domain on a previously specified price:

1. A Domain Owner who has several suitors for the domain, and wants to run it into some kind of auction deal instead.

2. A leech who is intent on milking your wallet for all its worth, after realizing you CAN pay.

As an end-user, i walk away when that happens. My logic is simple:

If he really has many other suitors, it's difficult to engage yourself in some BLIND AUCTION. He could prefer to sell it to someone who offered him just $100 more. Yet the risk to you is that you could overpay 3 times the other suitor was willing to pay, simply because you don't know what everyone else is bidding against. So it is best to walk away or maybe ask him to put it into a legal auction to be fair.

My second logic is, if he is just doing the milking bait, then wait him out. If the truth is he really has no other buyer, he will come back to you and say he has agreed on the previous price you two have agreed upon.

When that happens, cut the price you are willing to pay by 10-20%. That's the cost of spurning your previous offer and pulling the milk-your-wallet tactic on you

And also, a smart buyer doesn't go around displaying he has the black credit card. Anyone who shows he CAN pay, deserves to be charged with higher fees.

Typically, this world has two types of people. A man with a word of honor and one who doesn't have that simply because of materialistic gain or whatever to his advantage. On rare occasion, however, one might be tempted to break his word due to certain special conditions. But this world could be a better place to live in if the denizens show their honesty and purity in all their business transactions and throw away the greed that literally could destroy the integrity of the deal and even that of their personality themselves. Let the deal push through as agreed by both parties and not to break one's word or back out at the last minute because the idea of having to earn more is stuck in one's brain. While money is a great priority in all of our lives, one's integrity (for me IMHO) is definitely far more important and far more deserving to keep. There are always so much room to earn more the next time around. This world is so vast that its resources are simply inexhaustible. Being smart and clever could definitely make one reach unmeasurable heights but never to the expense of undermining one's character. What is life if one lives in utter disrespect of his own personality? Take it as a special lesson. We all learn from our mistakes. Experience is our greatest tutor so let it guide us to bring out the best in us... :)

In a free market place, you will encounter both arrogant sellers, and arrogant buyers. Just do business with people you are comfortable with and leave the bad eggs to themselves.
