Anyone have experience with having someone help sell your domain in exchange for a commission? What is a fair commission amount? Know of any anyone who is particularly good at this?

Looking to sell memorize.com, so any tips would be appreciated.

The usual rate is 15%.

What's funny is that this question is asked all the time, but 99% of the time the domain is really FAR below the quality needed for a domain broker to bother with it. You've got to factor in the S/Z alternate spellings and the fact that the core word would be Memory, but it's still a good name .. ideal for a memory building app or something. Memorize is one of the rare ones that I'd say an established broker would probably say yes to.

I'm sure you'll get plenty of people contacting you, if you want a suggestion or two, feel free to message me in private.

Good luck with it! :)

While there are undoubtedly some who handle outside this range, if I remember correctly from the expert roundtable on working with a broker held at NamesCon most brokers only handle domain names at something nearly $20,000 in end user value. That means, as @Ategy.com says most domains people are looking to sell are well below that.

Of course to some degree it could be argued that the marketplaces, both brandable and general purpose, are in some ways selling domain names for you. Although most domains sit a long time before getting an offer and there is not an agent actively selling until an inquiry comes in.

Thanks. As far as marketplaces, do you think a flippa classified and sedo presence are good enough? Still waiting to hear back from the sedo appraisal.

Still waiting to hear back from the sedo appraisal.

Hope you didn't pay for it

but still, just list the domain on various platforms, with "Make Offer"
then keep saying "No" until you get one that makes you want to sell it

it's a good one word domain that would be hard to replace from a portfolio
so have that in mind when pricing

imo….

Ty, will do. Which platforms other than here, sedo, and flippa?

if it was my domain....

it would be parked with either one of these places > Bodis, Sedo, Voodoo, Afternic, Uniregistry
and there would be a link or banner saying "This Domain May Be For Sale"

this way I could know visitors and maybe earn a few $ in ppc revenue, while waiting for inquiries.
get to know your domain, before parting with it

imo...

I added some "for sale" text to the site. Otherwise my plan was to leave the current interface in place to keep drawing traffic (there are a lot of inbound google results).

Ahh this would be such a nice name to develop. There's probably so much volume in memory improvement stuff, not to mention all the tangential keywords and stuff you could cover. Developing sites is my bread and butter, the domaining is more something I do on the side - I wish I was in a position to snap this one up.

Anywoo, great name, I hope you're able to find someone who recognizes the value here.

Thanks! Wish you were as well :) I agree it has potential. Especially now that it's becoming apparent that projects like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuralink are going to be a big part of the future. "Memorize" is probably the best single word for putting facts into people's minds.
