Hey guys - I have a few names I have acquired that get natural type-in traffic of about 80 uniques per day over 10 names and usually maintain a solid 50%+ CTR everywhere I have parked them. They were all indexed in Google but nowhere near the top of results.

About 10 days ago all those names moved up to either the first or second page in the results for their keywords. Traffic was much better.

This past Sunday I guess Google updated again because all my domains went back to low low ranking for their keywords. Some of my domains aren't even indexed in Google at all anymore!

At first I had though it was because of a series of 6 links that I added to the footer of a number of domains, but some of the domains I added links to were not removed from Google.

Additionally some domains I added absolutly 0 links to and the same happened, they either moved to page 100+ for results or were completely removed from Google.

The only other change I made was the custom domain title that you can set on Parked.com - I changed it to a clean, optimized and genuine title (not listing 999 keywords).

Anyone have any insight on what happened? Someone else has told me that this thing normally happens and there is a good chance they will return to the good rankings within a few weeks. But why would some of the domains be completely removed from Google?

Any help is appreciated!

Nick

I've heard that this can happen to some parked domains, where they go way up in results then drop down and then later go back to normal. But I don't know about some of them getting removed.

I am also interested in this, as I changed my titles before and had a similar issue but mine did not go back to their original results :(

Anyone have any any ideas?

There can be many many factors for this but lets assume nothing else happened and with that I would say that Yes the On page changes can affect the rankings.

If you can post one name and its example keyword then maybe someone can give more details :)

It can be dance. It might have already updated. etc. Or the pages linking to that page might have lost some authority. Which itself might be depending on other pages.

Hut*chCal*lerTun*es.in

Remove all the *

Was result #8 for "Hut*ch Ca*ller Tu*nes" and #12ish for "Cal*ler Tun*es"

Now it shows up no where for any keywords.

It's really hard to tell what causes these sorts of changes. It could be the changes you made, However, I have content (not parked) sites that do the same thing. Every once in a while they go away for a day/week and then return. I've learned to wait a few days or weeks before I get to aggressive about removing or making changes.

Painful if it is your main income souce though.

cool - that seems to be what people are saying - it's just reassuring to know this is common.

Thanks! rep added

PM sent. Sorry couldn't stuff the keywords here or this thread itself would have appeared for some of those keywords against you :D

Thanks.

Was laughing when I saw your post Nick, all too frequently I have seen people get themselves in trouble by actually posting there keywords in threads and the thread taking top spot in searches.

For the OP, I rank number 1 for 3 different keywords on my site, for the only thing I "sell" on my site. A couple of weeks ago I dropped out of results for 4 days, and the big G no longer had me anywhere in results, but just as fast as I disappeared, I reappeared with no explanation. Most people react when that happens but I didn't. I had heard this was happening to a number of people, so I sat back, waited, and changed nothing. As I said above, 4 days later I was back in top spot. Trust me, wait it out, I have heard that when others do, they sometimes reappear higher in the results than they were before they disappeared. (Sidenote: My vanishing also happened on a Sunday, so that's interesting.)

Well it happened to me again, dropped down to spot 97, and then 4 days later was up at number 1 again. How did you make out?

not well at all - it has since happened to about 7 other names, all at different times - now all 20+ names are still on page XXX with no movement...this sucks

I wouldn't worry about Google's ridiculous rules.

I'm hearing more and more of this lately...it has also happened to me (again) with a number of domains. It's just so frequent now, that I'm not even surprised when I see rankings change from day to day.
