A sale is a sale even if it's in China. I'm positive that N, NN and NNN .TOP and .XYZ are rather solid investments (obviously not compared with the corresponding .COMs)

Probably 'old news' for the most here but according to http://dnpric.es/?q=.top the Domain 8.top sold for nearly $ 80,000.00 USD too (Okt 2015).
Although .xyz is the current leader in amount of reg. names of new gtlds I think .top will catch up - after all .xyz is more than a half year longer available than .top

Of course in both cases the digit 8 itself was probably the heaviest reason for those sales - but not only this 'magic' digit itself alone.
The second reason in each case was - no surprise - the extension .xyz / .top itself.
But no wonder - those extensions are 'predestined for gaining in power'.
Why?
Because both of them* have 'universal logic through 3L' while both are aesthetic (however '.com' sounds 'clipped' for me in some way).

*One 'horizontal', the other 'vertical'
