That renewal fee is way too high. If registered for 10 years, you've already paid close to 8k USD. The difference with other extensions is that you pay up front and the renewal fees are relatively low compared to this one.

Might be, but on the other hand all 1-char .ki are taken despite the price and that's an "8" - good number for East Asia markets, especially China. And a typical end buyer company will usually not care that much even about 800 USD/year or more if such a domain fits the use

Sure, but what I'm trying to say is that over time they'll basically end up paying for the actual worth of the domain + a lot more because of the renewal fee. If they only keep it for a shorter amount of time, that's even worse since that money just gets thrown away.
