The ebay auction for 4BA.com closes today. I can tell you this much- The number of people who have it on their watch lists has far exceeded my expectations and I received an email from a buyer who asked me to pull the auction and made me an offer that was only $40 shy of my reserve price. Regardless of what the offer was, (well, within reason, that is), I wouldn't have pulled it.

I added another 3 character .com name today:

W0R.com (W"zero"R).

"W0r! What is it good for?
Absolutely nothin'! Sing it again.
I said- Stop the W0r! Uh! Good God y'all!

Doesn't seem like there are any bids. Why isn't this guy lodging a bid?

If by "Doesn't seem like there are any bids" you mean "0 bids", you are dead on. I've been selling items, (mostly merchandise- only a few domain names), on eBay for 4-5 yrs, now. I sold some 3 character names a few weeks back a couple for some $150s and $200 and made a sale larger sale as a side benefit of putting some out there. In those auctions, all of the bidding came at the end. This has been a typical pattern. I've got 10-20 watchers on 8 of the names. That means that either buyers are lining up, or that the auctions have attracted a bunch of curious spectators- I guess we'll just have to wait and see now, won't we?

Why isn't this guy lodging a bid?
The guy asked me what my reserve was, I told him, he made me an offer below the reserve to see if I would wiggle, I suppose. I don't know the guy, I don't know how legit he or the offer is and, as I said, I am not taking it down. I received an offer for 4BA_com from a French outfit a few months back and emailed them- I don't know if their client is still interested or not. If it or all of them don't sell for what I want, I'm out the auction fees and I'll sit on them and let them appreciate for another year or for however long. I still have my heavy-hitters sitting in a vault so no skin off my nose one way or another, but I wouldn't have them on there if I didn't want to sell.

I see. I was just trying to understand how it all works. Interesting that you can see who is watching the domains.

Never sold on ebay myself. Sounds like you have been relatively successful on ebay. Good luck with everything!

Thanks. I don't have alot of exprience selling domain names on ebay, but I liked my last experience enough to make another go of it. I sold one name that was bid on, but didn't end up hitting the reserve to an individual who found out about the auction after the fact and than that led to another purchase of two more names, so there can be more going on behind the scenes and side benefits that result from the auctions than would meet the eye, at first glance. ;)

Great. Any tips for selling on ebay? I'm thinking about trying it out.

I'm not sure if I'm the one you want to be giving you advice. I just received an email from eBay that my first auctiion went down w/o a bid. 6 mos ago, I had a $500, (it was in euros so it worked out to 480/89 or something like that), offer for it that I declined. Go figure.

Well back to the drawing board w/ my 4BA online degree concept. Must have been meant to be.B-)
