Im interested to know is there anyone out there apart from these guys K.Ham
F.Schilling Marchex BuyDomains to name a few that actually buy large portfolios?

I own hundreds of names myself but I also broker domains for a select number of clients and I would love to hear if anyone out there knows of people or companies that buy large portfolios in the $xx,xxx, xxx figure?

Look forward to reading everyones thoughts!

Regards,

Robbie

What's the point of doing something that makes you a "meager living"?
Thats BS.
Maybe that's why you're not making a good living off of Domaining. You take it as just a hobby and assume only 'special' ppl make the real money. :alien:

Excellent comment, and I will give you a rep. Steve has 2569 posts, a zillion rep points, member since Aug 2005, and is always very professional in his comments.

Having a broker with zero knowledge and contacts is about as useful as a parachute with a hole in it. :hi:

Unfortunately, Post count and rep points doesn't make some one right.

If he's one of the best domainers out there, why is he making a meager living?
That's like Donald Trump stating that he's only making a "meager living" in real estate. It doesn't make any sense....

There are many wealthy and successful domainers out there and stating that this market is just something ppl do to nickel and dime is a lie, and is very offensive....

I have no idea what Steve has in his portfolio. I do know that he has conducted himself in a professional manner for a very long time. I first ran into him on another board (he doesn't go there anymore) and he was respected as a professional there too.

Taktikz raises a valid point, if someone is "one of the best domainers out there", they would not be making a "meager living".

If I read it rightly, he said "we" mostly make a small profit (i.e. most of the people reading the question), which is probably true. It was a good point to say most of us don't know people with a lazy $50,000,000.00 to spend. If anyone pretends otherwise, they're living in fantasy dreamland rather than running a good, solid business.

I don't think it was a declaration of his bank balance and was done out of grounding the conversation in facts, and a bit of modesty IMO.

I'll always rate a solid performing, generous domainer over someone who just talks the talk.

Whoa, where tf did THIS come from?

When did I say *I* was making a meager living? I said that most members here are doing it as a hobby and/or are making a meager living at doing this. There aren't that many "full-time domainers" here to begin with, people whose sole source of income is domaining.

I do it for a living and make 6-figures doing it. The point I was trying to make to the OP was that 99% of us here are the wrong people to ask...even at my level I had no idea what to tell him, as ironically the only huge buyers I know are in gambling and adult. Also, I was trying to be a little facetious in my post given the OP is essentially asking people to help him make a $50 million portfolio sale. Thanks for the uninformed attack though...that was awesome!

Steve is not only a nice guy but also one of the most honest guys I have ever dealt with. I believe his comment is more of a generalization and not any indication of his own success. Most newer domainers do buy tons of not so hot domains and then sell to other domainers as they can't afford upcoming renewal fees which would then put them into a hobby category. I have personally sold $7 hand registered and expired domains in the range of 1-10k but that is because I only sell to end users or domainers willing to pay end user pricing. So when a question is posed of who's got 50 million to spend as Snoop said the options are limited and the point I think Steve was trying to make. I have seen some of Steve's domains and he knows how to pick them, in fact he threw one my way for an end user of mine in which the end user turned out not to like the domain, i did like it so I held for a bit and that $7 turned into $6500 before fees as I found a different end user and I kicked him a cut for the suggestion and it is listed at dnjournal. Steve has also done some charity work as well currently and previously. Even if Steve was making a meager living he is a stand up guy and there are more ways to measure a man than with a $ sign, charity being one of them.
