Simple economics, right now the .com is worth more.

Agreed......

The "channel" thing may take off in .tv, but likely it will be a short lived bubble until nearly all possibilities are gone. And I say short because I believe most possibilities are already gone.

After that, sales of "channel" tv's will slowly tick up in the aftermarket, but .com will always be more expensive.

Although I would dearly love for channel to be a name that becomes synonomous with tv, I think that is years down the road.

you're right...for all those who've invested entirely in .tv/.mobi etc., expecting the same kinds of return as .com, they should keep in mind that .com reached its current position after more than 20 years. How can new extensions like .tv and .mobi reach the same level in just 2-3 years?

Well, soon you have others argue that tv has indeed been around for quite a few years and this may be the rising dawn. (I don't think it is quite yet, but that is just me)

Personally, I think mobi is kind of silly. but that is JUST MY OPINION> the reason I think it is silly is that me as regular cell phone user and NOT a mobile web person that constantly has bookmarks and goes on the web on my cell phone.......honestly, I would think the logical extension would have been simply .m I just don't want to try and type .mobi when I have already had my fingers mashing a keypad trying to type goshIlovemidgetpornOnmycellphone. Add a .tv on the end of it, and I think more people would be likely to type "vid.tv" on their cell phone then "vid.mobi" simply because it is 2 less letters.....

but I digress.....

Quite frankly, the future of phones is likely the iPhone route, which means that people will more than likely be typing in a com since they can view the whole site instead of 8 lines of text.

I agree with you completely..perhaps thats why I have just one each of .tv and .mobi!
And regarding the iPhone, I really cannot imagine Nokia and Motorola launching similar web browser based phones..the web browsing on the iPhone is the best thing I've seen in a long long time...I'm trading in the blackberry for the iPhone (or iPod Touch) this thanksgiving..

.tv...well, the inherent problem with .tv is that its applications are limited, until now at least. .com was initially meant for 'company', but since its been around for so long, its initial purpose has been diluted (just the same with .org). While there is the possibility of .tv losing its original purpose and apply to everything, just like a .com, it'll take at least 5+ years for that to happen. I wouldn't expect miracles anytime soon..

Sorry have to comment

First let me say apples browser is amazing.

Secondly, nokia will have as good of a browser vs apple. Don't count nokia out

If you trade in your blackberry have fun sending your phone every year so they can fully charge that 499 over hype machine and enjoy writting emails that take twice as long vs blackberry buttons.

Then enjoy the iphone without being you for a few days due to you sending that thing back, they send it back to you in and you can finally make a phone call after 7 days lol.

Video will be on our phones sooner then later

I love how people think the I phone will kill blackberry. No way in hell! Not for enterprize email, corp email, typing, personal email and etc.

I actually thought about getting one. But when I heard about 700 bucks, typing slowness I said hell no

Not everyone is going have an iphone until prices are more cheaper

Enjoy the trade inn and wish you well. More downfalls to things I believe

Apple won't kill .mobi at all. If anything it supports it. Just like google software on your phone for mobi friendly.

Bulldog, get a blackberry. You can do it! Lol. Be mobi and just think you can be on namepros.mobi as your having a cup of Joe, you can email me when Michigan plays Iowa while your at the games venting how Michigan sucks and Iowa is golden lol, you can be a stats junky with parked pages and go online from your phone and see the 10,000 clicks your getting each day and etc etc

Come on. Join the big 10 proud big 10 crackberry group lol

If your outside of the big 10, you can't join lol. Only the bruins can be a part of this special crackberry club during the season since I own bruins.tv lol

Cheers

J

Oh no. Lol.

Your your going cause this discussion again lol

Folks I didn't start this lol from the proud channels guy lol

Don't forget discover keyword as well lol. I only have 8 of those names lol. I did start the term discover.

Guess bulldog will respond to my blackberry comments, and now discover lol. That's ok. Bulldog, we can agree on this over Ohio state losing! Ha!

Channel.tv will take time just like .tv domains. I won't repeat the other 2 words above. Lol

If your not patient and thinking 5 years out min for your .tv names I feel .tv investing is not the way to make money. Same with .mobi. Would be nice say 3 years and I can early retire at age 35 lol but that's only dreaming. I will say min 5 years. Nice to dream at times and be positive!

By then let's all hope bandwith, hosting, servers come down huge in price. I believe they will. Just like cell phones in the 90s and look at them now

Oh Jeff, you wacky guy.....

Bulldog's BlackBerry Blast: Never never never never. They tried to shove one on my for my IT consulting job and I refused. I actually had one on my personal account for some time and really learned to loathe it.

It's bad enough that I have a regular cell phone and can't shut it off because of work and family. But that damn blackberry.....ding with the emails all the time? argh. I sold it on ebay for 1.5 times what I paid for it and got a plain old lg.

Now, my brother has that new blackberry pearl. That is a sweet little phone, I am tempted to get that but if I do I won't be hooking my email to it.

By the way, Iowa and Iowa State squeeked out victories this weekend and with one more should be bowl bound for the holidays.

Also, Dallas Cowboys won over the New York Giants, essentially clinching for now a nice playoff birth, and probably a finals spot. Dallas is poised to head back to the Super Bowl, and America's Team will soar again.
