I was curious to find out how the domain name prices achieved in 2007 compared to those achieved in 2006, so I had a look at the DNJournal table of sales for the Top 100 for 2006 and 2007 and with the help of my calculator discoverd the following.
Total sales 2006 for Top 100 amounted to $29,775,000
Total sales 2007 for Top 100 amounted to $42,682,500
Average price per domain 2006 was therefore $297,750
Average price per domain 2007 was therefore $426,825
This represents an increase of 43.3% over the year.
Don't know how this equates to the rest of domain names as a whole but an interesting increase to say the least. It's very difficult to find an investment that will pay 43% a year.
