Unstoppable Domains

4.cn Experience

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
With the growth of the Chinese domain market, I've seen users like Shane Bellone mention that they are listing their numerics and Chinese friendly domains here.

I signed up, but a lot of how this site works, best practices, policies, are still a mystery to me.

So I thought it was time to open up a thread so we can start sharing knowledge and experiences about using 4.cn.

For example, are any of you parking there? Has that led to sales?

Also, when I tried to sign up for a "Buy It Now" listing, it asked me to make a deposit first that it would hold if the domain gets bought. What's up with that? Kind of confused by that policy. Worth doing?

So much to cover... Thoughts?

I was also skeptical about using 4.cn first.
But went ahead and the experience is really good.
I have bought several domains from there and listed one for sale as well.
I made a deposit of 400 RMB but my domain didn't sell.
The amount was credited to my account after some minimal deduction.
Thanks.

Thanks for sharing.

I just linked a chinese buyer to my listing - hoping he makes an offer just so I can get more familiar with their processes.

Do you remember what the seller fees were like?

That's interesting that you've bought names from there! Judging by the results I see on namebio, it seems like their prices are actually a bit lower than the prices we see on godaddy and namejet daily. I might have to do some mining.

I never sold a domain there so not sure about the fees.

Yes you can definitely find some good domains for decent price if you can do some research.

How much does it cost to use 4.CN services?

For brokerage transaction it is 10% of transaction amount. For other transaction it is 8% (gold member enjoys 50% discount).

How do I become a gold member?

After your accumulative consumption in 4.CN reaches RMB50,000. Youโ€™ll be upgraded to be a gold member.

(basically you spend $8k total there, and your transactions free is only 4% after that)

What i have seen in 4.cn is LL, LLL, LLLL,NN,NNN,NNNN,NNNNN,NNNNNN and Chinese words(Any length) with extensions .com or .cn or .cc.

If you have any domains thats meets the above criteria, you can jump to 4.cn.
There is a 400 RMB deposit for Domain Pricing, which is refundable.

Cool, thanks.

Just started the process of changing my nameservers over to 4.cn. (ns1.4.cn and ns2.4.cn).

Here's an example of the landing page if anyone wants to see: http://22614.com/

I been there for over a year and got quiet few offers, but the problem is that at Chinese
market you will always get offers in $xx and if you want to buy, they offer you random domains
for $xx,xxx + so it looks like everyone in China wants to get rich overnight with a dime in the pocket.

The official response given by 4.cn support.

There are several steps to auction your domain.
1, you submit auction application for your domain
2, auction application is approved
3, You pay 400RMB as deposit to confirm the auction
4, domain is in 7-days auction display period. In this period of time, if the buyer offer a price higher than 200RMB then the domain is on auction officially. If no one offer the price higher than 200RMB, domain will be removed out. We will charge 5 RMB fee and release the left deposit to you.
5, the domain is sold at the final price. When transaction is completed, the deposit 400RMB will release to you. We charge 8% of the sale price as our commission fee. If you refuse to transfer the domain, the deposit 400RMB will be deducted.

Hope this helps you all for queries related to auctioning at 4.cn marketplace.
