Adwords shows $3.54 and 590 searches. Either way, I'm really interested to see how 3dprinted+keyword domains do.

I wasn't a fan of them at all, then the only one I decided to register sold in 3 months..

I turned down an offer of $2000 for 3DPrintedShoes/com last week. What's interesting for me is that anyone who started investing in 'Future Trend' domains 3-4 years ago should now start seeing interest where there was initially none. The question is, when to sell, either make a handsome flip or hold out until the technology is mainstream. Certain '3DPrinted' .com's are going to fetch potentially big money in the next couple of years....

Which one did you sell?

Cody, you should look into things a tad bit more carefully before coming out with figures.

There is a diff. between searching for 3d printed & 3dprinted.
Check your search results again, before arriving on to the right figure.
I had clearly mentioned 3d printed guitar.

Also, the industry as it is picking up is very promising, with MP already making xxxx sales, and having xxxx offers too.

Our being fans, or not, doesn't end an industry's possibilities, sales are a matter of personal hard work, patience, and luck too.

I'm aware that being a fan doesn't end an industry's possibilities, but I was not a fan, and still may not be, because of the possibilities of the industry.

1. My first concern is the sustainability. "3Dprinted" is currently a hot term because it's a new technology that people are just now starting to become aware of. At the moment, there's only one company producing 3d printed guitars and it's a unique product. When companies begin using 3d manufacturing as a standard means of production, people will no longer be searching for "3d printed x", because they will just be "x".

2. Using 3dprinted as a prefix also makes the domain longer and less brandable than "3d" or "printed" which could work interchangeably. Right now printedguitar and printedguitars are both available, and 3dguitars is for sale. While you may still be able to make a sale with some names, there's many alternatives you have to compete with.

But don't get me wrong, I'm not discouraging anyone from registering 3dprinted names or saying they don't have any future. I was just stating that I wasn't originally a fan.

Make sure the search volume is for 'All Locations'.

Now, as far as your interpretation/ concern, about the sustainability of the term, "3d printed", you got to research out the facts first.

There is a huge difference between anything being 3d, and anything getting '3d printed'.
Objects have already been 3d in nature, while the printing industry operated with 2d prints until 3d printing arrived.
So 3d printed has a different meaning, than your 'perceived meaning' of it.

A domain's length doesn't have to be in question, given the fact it signifies an industry, i.e., '3d printed'/ '3d printing'.

Now about the guitar thing, "printed guitars" isn't the marketed/popularized/prevalent term, as yet.
Availability of alternates doesn't bring down the preference for a 'Perfect Match Keyword'.
If there's one company already producing 3d printed guitars, at the time of 3d printed industry in its earliest stages, this only sends out enormous hope/possibilities for the concerned industry.

I would not pick 3d(stand/sit/run/whatever), but rather go with perfect "3d printed + keyword" domains.
Not getting wrong, just trying to get things right.

Nitin did you pick up 3dprintedguitars dot com from a drop? I regged 3d print guitar over a year ago and noticed the same thing you did about the plural version of it was taken by who you mentioned.

If anyone hasn't heard of Moore's law, it's worth taking a look at this article as it relates to the speedy developments happening in 3DPrinting. For me it also means not selling my 3dp domains too quickly or cheaply....But that's my opinion.
