My advice is to stay away from .co, .net, .in, .info and .org in this niche

stick with .com unless you have 3dprinting.??? or 3dprinter.???

Check the sales, all the decent ones are .com or strong cctlds

@GS

I generally agree with you Giles, although I don't mind taking a punt for a year or two on lesser extensions, just in case the technology decides to truly take off. i.e. 3dprinter.org has had 19 offers so far on Sedo.

It might have offers but I can assure you they will be lowball domainer offers, companies in this niche wont use .org for their domain

I'm sure you're right. Anyone wanna make me a lowball offer? :)

Nonsense.

Granted, everryone gets low-ball offers, but you couldn't possibly know about the offers for that domain,(unless you are the one making low-ball offers).

Besides, value is relative. I would consider $1,000, a low-ball offer for that name. It's easily a five figure name to the right company.

As for the extension, It does quite well when it's the best available with the best key phrase, at the best price.

Ok counter with a decent price and see what happens, I assure you it will get rejected, test it and see lol

Lets see if it sells for 5 figures...

I would "appraise" 3Dprinter.org somewhere in the mid x.xxx region, enduser price, resellers wont pay more than max low x.xxx.

3DPrinter.net was sold for $1.476 , but in February 2011, before the "hype" , and it was at snapnames, so reseller price

http://www.google.com/trends/explore?q=3d+Printer#q=3d Printer&cmpt=q

The interest is much higher now.

I consider .net much better than .org for this keyword, so i would say the .net could be sold somewhere in the high x.xxx to an enduser (if it were for sale , undeveloped) and the .org probably max. mid x,xxx to an enduser.

I have a dumb name 3dprinterer(.)com. Makes no sense really. Too much good Australian wine flowing at registration time.

I recently regged 3dservicing(.)com which to me makes more sense. I would imagine 3d equipment would have to be serviced at some point, unless they are throwaway units.

Interesting info re 3dprinter.net. It's now an up and running blog on 3d printing, a site I regularly refer to. The guy who runs it also owns 3dprinting.net and I think many others plus he's only taking offers of $50k and above for 3dprinter.net.

I managed to register 4dprinter.net yesterday and also won a backorder on 3d-printed.com.

I really wonder if companies are going to use the words "3D print(er)". There is a lot of possibilities to create a nice brand without even using these words...

According to the latest news, eBay just released a new mobile app for ordering 3D printed merchandise. It's not called eBay 3D print or something like that, they call it eBay EXACT.

Btw. I regged Get3Dprinters.com today
