From how many searches on is a keyword worth registering as a domain?

1. Would greenwidget.com with a count of 700 in Wordtracker be worth registring

2. Would red-widget.com with a count of 3500 be worth registring?

3. What about .net and .org?

I realise there are other factors involved, I'm just looking for a general guideline.

Cheers,

Dirk

Wordtracker is generally "per day" if using the actual tool I believe.

Both Overture and Wordtracker have built in errors more or less (Though I must admit I trust Wordtracker most) - So I'd always make sure the "keyword / term" makes sense -or- Does it make sense that many people would be searching per day for the term ?

There is no Set rule on how many searches the term needs - It's usually best to see how much competition you have for the term at Google / Yahoo / MSN first. If there are 686.0 Searches per /day for "dog houses" at wordtracker - and then you see how much competition there is at google.

Results 1 - 10 of about 4,360,000 for dog houses
Results 1 - 10 of about 872,000 for "dog houses"

Whether you use quotes or not that is a lot of competing pages to deal with in SEO.

If I have a decent affiliate program in mind or just a good idea - I'll register domains with as little as 10 searches per day as long as there isn't much competition.
