1. Forgetting about the 60 Day Transfer Period.

If you don't know the rule already,, you can not transfer a domain to another registrar within the first 60 days of purchase. Within the same registrar, however, (ex. One Go Daddy account to another Go Daddy account), you can perform a PUSH immediately after purchase. Be aware of this before you purchase a domain for a quick FLIP

2. Purchasing Long Domain Names

This is pretty much self explanatory.
No one wants to type: howtoflipdomainsforreallybigmoney.com
3 letter domains, 4 letter domains, catchy one-word or dictionary domains or 15 letter keyword domains are usually going to be your best bet for flipping a domain without a proven website.

3. Buying Domains with Hyphens

How many people do you think will remember where to put the hyphen when typing the domain name? How about voice-activated domain searches, how hard is that going to be?
While you may be able to find really cool keyword domains with hyphen included, they mostly sell for much less than the non-hyphenated versions, if even at all.

Now I would like your advice:
What do you think of the following domains (any suggested appraisals)?

trashyphotos.com

I can't see a real business using any of these domains. They are ok for some funny blog but that's it.

It might not be relevent to a lot of people, but one mistake not to make is to forget about the currency conversion changes over time.

I am canadian and I made that mistake a few times last year on small % quick flips.

Let say I buy the domain for $400 USD, it could be worth $550 CDN at time of purchase.

If I flip that domain a few weeks later for $450 USD, maybe its still only worth $550 CDN at that moment if the value of canadian dollar went up. So I might think I just made a quick $50 USD in profit but in reality once the funds will be back in CDN, there will be no profits at all.

On the other hand, a profit of $50 USD could be worth much more than you think in your own currency if the value went down.

So I think it is important to consider the currency conversion factor when you price your domains for a flip and make sure a quick 10-15% profit in USD will really be a profit when the money is back into your bank account.
