Hey guys,

I've purchased a few domain names in the past for college classes and now that I have graduated I really have no need for them so I was wondering if anyone can tell me the approximate value of them?

I have two domain names... Ran them through LeapFish domain appraisal and figured there is no way it is right...

• DesignsJP.com (LeapFish appraised at $134,172)

• FabledMedia.com (LeapFish appraised at $10.00 [recent purchase])

I suppose both could be good design studio website companies, and actually there are a lot of domains similar to DesignsJP.com such as: TDesignsJP.com, JPDesigns.com, etc...

Can anyone tell me what they believe the true value of these domains are? I'm pretty sure I didn't win the lottery with DesignsJP.com... haha.

Thanks a ton,

Hey guys, sorry to bump.. Just very curious what you think these two domains are worth?

Thanks!

DesignsJP.com - only worth something if you're JP.
FabledMedia - would be easy to come up with an alternative name, so $10 sounds about right.

Thanks for the post.

I figured LeapFish was just playing with me haha...

Anyway, I think I am going to develop FabledMedia.com into a site similar to TheBestDesigns.com.

Just a nice site that shows off some amazing web talent around the world.

Thanks again, Rep Added.

Phillips126,

As far as DesignsJP.com it could possibly be pitched and sold to an end user. Just type in Designs JP into google and see if you can honestly see any of the few 30 or so results using the traffic, If so and there are no copyright issues just email them and tell them you have had the name a while and am looking to get rid of it and iquire if they would like to purchase it before you let it expire and anyone has the chance at it. You may be able to make back your reg fee in the name.... you never know.

JamesDavid,

Thanks for the advice, I think I am going to do that.

Something to consider as well;

JP=Japan?

Ah... yes... JP = Japan.

Never thought of that, very clever!

Since it is actually my initials, thats all I imagined it being.

Perhaps I can try to market it that way!

I noticed there is also a jewelery maker that has a company named JP Designs, however, her web address is something along the lines of CoolGlassJewlery or something.. She may want something closer to the company name. ;)

I'll see what I can do, thanks a lot Izy, Rep Added.

I don't think many people will associate JP with Japan. Just google "JP" and see how many Japan hits you get. There's some but most of it is acronyms for JP.

You might want to try to approach some along these lines:

JP Designs™~Graphics,Custom Web-Designs
Home
JP Falk Designs - JP Falk Designs

See if they'll give you $100 for it. If they say no, try $50 then $20... just a suggestion.

Thanks darkjjim,

As you can probably tell, I am a newb at domaineering...

I put the domain up to park it for the time being (and because I've never done it before) and am quite impressed with the money it is generating.

I mean, it's not much, but the CPC is steadily increasing approx. 30+ cents a day and it's kinda exciting haha.. just waiting to see when it will stop.

Anyways, thanks for all the suggestions.

30+ cents a day sounds like a keeper to me. If it's making money, then who cares what anyone says...
If it get steady traffic and $ over a couple of months then you could probably sell it based on the traffic. 30+ cents a day = $100/yr, you could probably get 1.5-2 yr rev for it.

I have been considering keeping it, was kind of up in the air, but I am excited about it's income so I think I may hold on to it another year or 2...

I would love to be one of those lucky folk that generate a nice income from Parked Domains but I understand that can take 1000's of good domains.

Since I work as a web designer by day, I thought that it would be interesting to see how a parked domain compares to a developed site with ads (my guess the ad site will conquer). I think I am going to work on FabledMedia.com some and see what I can come up with.

Perhaps I will study some more on domain parking as well and see if I can generate a few nice names which see some heavy traffic.

Thanks,
