It could be a fake... besides there have been similar auctions at Ebay, that turned out to be fake or involving stolen names.
I would never buy without knowing the exact name. You have to exercise due diligence when buying a domain.

I am just wondering since the same ebay account "danswebhosting" is mentioned in:

Sharp eye. BTW the guy is still hanging around at DNF. Beware.

Let's watch this one.

Almost definitely a scam. Especially since he's not even saying the exact domain..

Just out of interest, if it is a scam, how will he try and take advantage of a potential buyer?

By getting the buyer to pay first before he transfers the domain. Although I think the seller wanted to use escrow.com which is safe for both parties involved.

I have a house somewhere in Europe. It has one room. Please bid on it, it is a rare opportunity to own one.

Perhaps the domain name is "2-letter.com", if it is then the ebay listing is very misleading.

I bloody hate it when people list domains and they dont even reveal the domain... grrf :td:

I wonder how could these buyers bid on such a domain without really seeing exactly what the domain is for such a high amount.

What if the domain is 2-letter.com literally?

And I noticed that the bidders username in ebay have an identical pattern _***_

Coincidence?

One or both letters could be IDN.

...or he hasn't bought the name yet. Hence not revealing it (the seller may become aware). He'll get a big sale, and then try and pick up one of the 'lower' quality ones for a few thousand less on Sedo whilst waiting for the payment to clear.

first of all i dont know the "owner" of this DN...

sometimes i dont know why people like it (but they like) there are these kind of auctions, where the name isnt give (and people like it and people bid on them), so it is something usual

when i bid on names in ebay i check for how long the member has been in ebay (in this case since april 26, 2005) and his/her feedback (here 100% for 48 transactions many as the seller) and he also says the winner can pay through escrow (of course such ammount of money for a LL.com must be paid through escrow)

so i think it is really very dangerous but this could be for real :imho:

he says the name is a premium LL.com but without repeating letters

Could easily be a L-L.com as well.

There really is no risk involved if you are the buyer. You certainly do not have to make payment until you know the exact domain name. For instance, if you end up being the winning bidder, you don't pay until you know the exact domain you will be receiving. After you're given the domain name, you can verify ownership and use an escrow service if you wish. Also, if the seller tries something tricky and tells you the domain is a L-L.com or something other than you expected, you simply do not pay and contact Ebay saying you were mislead. Furthermore, the seller is the one at risk because he will be liable for the selling fees as soon as the domain is sold...and those fees will be substantial...over 5% of the sale price. If the buyer does not pay, the seller will have to file a claim with Ebay to get credit for these fees.

Bottom line - - always protect yourself before you pay through methods I've mentioned above.
