I kind of fell into this about a year ago. From reading lots on here (Smurge's thread for example) I've found my own way of doing things eventually.
I don't make megabucks by any means, at the moment, low $XXXs per month, which pays for any renewals and recently any domains bought with the intention of selling as opposed to parking.
It's only my opinon at the end of the day, but I thought this may help anyone just starting or thinking of starting out and maybe lessen the time it takes via trial and error.
Voodoo - Put simply if you don't have voodoo in your life you are missing out! Overall the best solution for me personally, high ctr, high cpc - regularly clicks over $1.
Every option available to tweaking the display of a parked domain you will find on Voodoo - image, multi language keywords, template, 1/2 click lander etc etc and all done in a way that is simple and quick to navigate.
For sale options top notch - ribbon/banner, option to change wording and importantly option to forward clicks on the sale banner to an external url. Support is also very quick, and effective.
ParkingCrew - I love PC's UI and the support is unbelievably quick (they're quite funny too).
Predominantly text based landers, great sale banner options (similar to Voodoo and allow for external links).
Keywords can be altered on a per country basis if needed and they make it easy to see where traffic is coming from. Auto optimization is best left on however and it's interesting to see how it works.
PC has been the best solution for me also for faillisted/google banned domains.
Excellent.
DomainNameSales - Mind blowingly impressive sales tools (once you work your way around it), probably unrivalled in this respect. The parking side of things is meant to be no frills, and it is, but there's still a few options (category, banner wording etc).
I've only just really started with these but similar cpc to PC/Voodoo - some domains that did absolutely nothing before all of a sudden get income, and in some instances the reverse is true.
DomainSponsor, Bodis, Rookmedia - I've not really given these a fair enough crack of the whip to pass much comment. I had a $14 click at Domainsponsor last week so that's surely a good thing! (and they've improved their sale banner recently). Bodis meanwhile will pay out on 1 cent and has low sales fees - good for newcomers.
I think Rookmedia would be a very good solution for anyone looking for the parking company to do all the work. The UI is really straightforward, it's a case of add your domains and off you go. They sort it. I can't help messing with my domains though which is why I like Voodoo, but I'd recommed anyone give Rook a go.
I've had very brief efforts with others but never really got anywhere. I'd be interested to hear any other opinions. Sold a couple through sedo though and that all went smoohtly to credit them.
Special mention also to Above, which I use more often than not. As the number of domains I own has increased it's an easy option to use above to get an overall picture of how everything's performing and direct traffic to where you want it to go. I've read here on occasion they've had some syncing issues and the like but I've not experienced this and they've always been very good with support and the like - even phoned me once!
I know this goes over some old ground but the parking companies have taken their time to make us some $ it's only fair we give them our opinions and credit where it's due...
Cheers
