I kind of fell into this about a year ago. From reading lots on here (Smurge's thread for example) I've found my own way of doing things eventually.

I don't make megabucks by any means, at the moment, low $XXXs per month, which pays for any renewals and recently any domains bought with the intention of selling as opposed to parking.

It's only my opinon at the end of the day, but I thought this may help anyone just starting or thinking of starting out and maybe lessen the time it takes via trial and error.

Voodoo - Put simply if you don't have voodoo in your life you are missing out! Overall the best solution for me personally, high ctr, high cpc - regularly clicks over $1.

Every option available to tweaking the display of a parked domain you will find on Voodoo - image, multi language keywords, template, 1/2 click lander etc etc and all done in a way that is simple and quick to navigate.

For sale options top notch - ribbon/banner, option to change wording and importantly option to forward clicks on the sale banner to an external url. Support is also very quick, and effective.

ParkingCrew - I love PC's UI and the support is unbelievably quick (they're quite funny too).

Predominantly text based landers, great sale banner options (similar to Voodoo and allow for external links).

Keywords can be altered on a per country basis if needed and they make it easy to see where traffic is coming from. Auto optimization is best left on however and it's interesting to see how it works.

PC has been the best solution for me also for faillisted/google banned domains.

Excellent.

DomainNameSales - Mind blowingly impressive sales tools (once you work your way around it), probably unrivalled in this respect. The parking side of things is meant to be no frills, and it is, but there's still a few options (category, banner wording etc).

I've only just really started with these but similar cpc to PC/Voodoo - some domains that did absolutely nothing before all of a sudden get income, and in some instances the reverse is true.

DomainSponsor, Bodis, Rookmedia - I've not really given these a fair enough crack of the whip to pass much comment. I had a $14 click at Domainsponsor last week so that's surely a good thing! (and they've improved their sale banner recently). Bodis meanwhile will pay out on 1 cent and has low sales fees - good for newcomers.

I think Rookmedia would be a very good solution for anyone looking for the parking company to do all the work. The UI is really straightforward, it's a case of add your domains and off you go. They sort it. I can't help messing with my domains though which is why I like Voodoo, but I'd recommed anyone give Rook a go.

I've had very brief efforts with others but never really got anywhere. I'd be interested to hear any other opinions. Sold a couple through sedo though and that all went smoohtly to credit them.

Special mention also to Above, which I use more often than not. As the number of domains I own has increased it's an easy option to use above to get an overall picture of how everything's performing and direct traffic to where you want it to go. I've read here on occasion they've had some syncing issues and the like but I've not experienced this and they've always been very good with support and the like - even phoned me once!

I know this goes over some old ground but the parking companies have taken their time to make us some $ it's only fair we give them our opinions and credit where it's due...

Cheers

Great job! You are doing what I've been telling people to do the whole time. As I've always said, "This is not get rich quick but get rich slooooooow!"

You are a year in and now imagine where you will be a year from now if you just keep doing what it is you're doing.

You said you were making $xxx per month. Let's just assume you are making $200.00 per month right now. If you only double your current standing then you would be making $400.00 per month in just another year. However, it looks to me that you are going to grow much faster.

Anyways, great job, keep it up!

Thanks for Sharing valuable information

Since how long you are using DNS, was it approved recently ? as you said you started only since a year.

@ Smurge, many thanks - your tips thread formed the basis of how I got started and no doubt sped things up massively! I'd recommend anyone wanting to park reads this thread through thoroughly.

@ Zaki, hi Zaki I've seen a lot of your comments on here and had a look through namingzone (nice name btw). Are you still using Bodis primarily and how is that working out?

I was approved by DNS probably about 4 months ago. I've been slow to start using it though. Initially I'd set InternetTraffic to be rotated on above but had a lot of other accounts open at the time, so it didn't really take off, and I don't think DNS and above are particularly well connected.

Recently I thought I would test all domains at DNS (I'd been putting it off as I was reluctant to lose any traffic going to voodoo). The cpc isn't massively different - but most of my parking traffic is UK. Some .info domains performed way better though. A couple literally from zero to like $3 per day. Some of my best domains don't perform as well however. Ultimately I'm of the opinion that voodoo/parkingcrew work hard and focus on getting best results from parking whereas DNS is obviously more sales orientated (I'm dealing with like 4 or 5 leads at the moment). So for me personally I think I'm better parking at Voodoo/PC and selling at DNS. Brilliantly Voodoo & PC allow any banner clicks to divert to DNS sales lander - powerful combination!

That's what's working for me at the moment and I'm still rotating some traffic at above between Voodoo/PC/InternetTraffic. This may all change when voodoo's new sales system comes online mind...

Cheers

Post like this are real inspiration to me.
Yes , Smurge thread is the start point for anyone who is into parking.

I have been very unfortunate that i did not get much success in parking domains.
I still try to buy domains but i have lost confidence, so i hesitate to buy any.
I have completely stopped buying any domains before i loose more money.
I will be rebuilding my parking portfolio again. hope i will have a story.

Thanks for the info Nacho. Recently got into parking (as domain sales have been slow) and have had some success with it.

I am curious to know what kind of parking portfolios people have:

IE under fifty, under a hundred, hundreds of domains, thousands?

And what the results are.

I'd love to read this Smurge thread for newbies. I currently only have a portfolio that was purchased for sales. However, after a few years I've realized some of these names won't sell. Yet, a few of them have parking potential as they get type in keyword traffic and perhaps this could lead to parking $'s. So I'm trying to figure out how best to get started and who to start with for a turnkey approach.

Where can I find the Smurge thread?
