THIS IS COMPLETELY UNEDITED AND POSTED FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT:
I am sitting in the Demand Media conference, blogging LIVE for AllThings.tv, and a video is being shown to the audience. The video is of two 14 year old girls and 1 young boy prioritize a few cards, labeled TV, Internet, iPod, and Xbox, among many others. The 14 year old girls basically stated what we already knew: You can watch TV on the Internet. They ranked Internet over TV and continued to discuss how much more fun the Internet is and how important is is to them.
The cover story for Always On's Spring 2007 newsletter/magazine, which was released today, is "I want My Dot.tv." There are several pieces of literature that have been passed out here saying, "Carson gets .tv, do you?"
Check out the podcast, active chat rooms, etc on Always On's site for this event. They continue to show what people are discussing in those forums.
Feel free to post and I will try to respond. There are a number of venture capitalist firms, startup financing companies, bankers, lawyers, and technology companies attending this event.
Unfortunately, the event is more about them and Demand Media is leveraging the event to get the .tv concept in front of these players. One thing I did not understand before the event is that this event is not only about .tv. Its about technology, networks, and content delivery platforms...much wider than just .tv.
