I am surprised to see that there are only 463 one or two chars domains added on Afternic and less than 300 domains are character only. Most of the two char combination domains are less common acronyms. (Assuming every combination of two chars is acronym of something)

I fell lucky having a two char domain. Though the TLD of the domin is very uncommon but the name is one of the most popular acronym like TV.

I have PC.<tld> .

What you think? You thoughts about the value of acronym domains!

Best wishes,

KHAN

It would take only a sniff of publicity to dry up the remaining LL and NN names - just a hint of a hint of sexiness. 676 LL plus 100 NN per extension - and how many extensions offer them? Not many. 20?? That puts them on the rarity level, as a group, with LLL.coms - and LL.CCs have TWO less letters (counting the extension itself: COM=3, CC=2). So yes, I believe the potential is there. And interest is growing, at least at NP - questions about these names are occuring more often.

It is all about opportunity cost - the most advantagous place to put your limited funds. I have a few LL's, nice ones in my opinion. They cost a lot to renew, get few clicks, and nobody is counter-offering against the crazy prices I have posted on them.

Diversify. Diversify.

Speculation! Poker.cctlds & Casino.cctlds that sold easily for 2k & 5k sometime back, don't go for even 1k now. Now, those are top keywords.

Tell me one use of random LL or NN .cctld names? That too at yearly rates like $50-$200!! Names like tv.cctld / de.cctld / us.cctld etc have value. But not random ones.

You count 776 x 20 = 15520 and compare it with 17k odd LLL.coms !

Annual maintenance cost of those LL.cctlds is around 15520 x 100 = $1,552,000

Annual maintenance cost of 17k LLL.coms is $119,000

And, above all compare mkt size for LLL.com & LL.cctld!! c'mon! You shd see Demand-Supply.. not just Supply!

I am paying about $28/year to renew my LL's.

The Demand portion of the equation was covered in my first line:

And the initial cost is 1/200th that of a nice LLL.com, thus the advantage.

Nearly all of my names have obvious uses: PS.la would be a great messaging site for Los Angeles, for example. Indeed any LL.la name would serve well with the initials of a well known actor - an ultimate publicity site. Ten LL.cc names recently sold for $3000 each to the same buyer at the same time - all were country codes, so development in that direction is possible.

But, as always, the better quality letters are much more likely to find end users - you do not need to know what that end use is in advance.

Again, I am not promoting these things. Sometimes I want to sell off the lot, other times I hope they are gold. I would say, for certain, that two letter domains should not be such a large part of your portfolio that if they turn out to be duds then you would be hurting.

You talked about 15k odd ll.cctlds. Not just about the few you own. .PR reg cost is $1000. Namibia charges $2500 per annum.

Your first line talks about "Supply" or availability. How many end users would want a LLL.com & how many would want a LL.cctld ? Thats "Demand".

A LLL.com offers more liquidity than LL.cctld even at cost price.

The only other extension that has similiar chances is .tv. No other cctld. Country codes are reserved in most extensions. I did agree that there's value in those.

Well - go ahead and register all LL.cctlds! Once the supply dries down, lets see if the demand goes up!

IMO 2 letter names are a waste of money.

Not IMO

I think they will increase in value over time just as most other "hard to find" DNs will.
