$.01 text link, link experiment

I'm selling links on a website: http://www.linkexperiment.com starting at $.01

I created the page today (may 15th). It's a bit of an experiment, hence the url. I wanted to see how much I could sell a link for on the site. The mainpage will contain a maximum of 100 links that people will bid on for placement. The highest bid will go to the top, the lowest at the bottom. When the site fills up with 100 links, the links at the bottom will be bumped off the page when new links are added.

All links are SEO friendly and all links will be permanently placed on the "links" section of the site and will also be SEO friendly. (If your link gets bumped off the main page, it will still remain on the links page).

Ok I think that's all. Anybody have any questions? Comments? World Views?

What are people's predictions for how much the last link will go for? How much do you think the page will make total?

Like the idea.. but I think you should make a contact page or something, I was thinkning about buying a link for the hell of it.. but I ain't going to open a e-mail client to send you a message... yea, I am lazy

Over all nice site... Hope it works for you... altho you are gonig to get a lot of replys thats gonig to say this is a rip off, and a scam...

thanks for the suggestions angisson. I put up the form on the purchase page to make it easier, glad you like the site. Still waiting on my first order. Hopefully I'll get at least one today.

update: sold 8 links the first day, 12 today. The price went up to $.10 per link.

the only problem with having that many links on one page is google will see it as a link farm, and your ranking on google could be hurt -- you might want to rethink --

Rule of thumb, you should never have more that 30 links on one page, and the ideal amount is 10-20. Just something you might want to think about.

hmmm, i like the sound of 100 however, surely there must be expections to this rule. Anybody else think it would be a bad idea to have 100 links?

oh, and update: links are at $1 now

hey, thanks for the purchase ezimedia I just put up your links, and thanks for the suggestions everyone.

I'm gonna stick with 100 links for now, we'll see what happens. I'm gonna also see if I can reformat it a bit to make the links look more appealing. People seem to really be taking to this site. Someone actually offered to buy it which is pretty funny considering it's only 3 days old, it isn't even listed on google yet!

EDIT: a member of digital point pointed(haha) out that a person could buy 99 links for $1, then the last one for $100. In order to prevent this, now all 100 slots are up for bids, so the minimum bid is back to $.01 for now.

update: Site has been picked up by The Houston Chronicle
as of today

next up, working on some free php scripts in order to generate some more traffic for the site. Also, site is now indexed on google, msn, and ranked on Alexa(with a little pic). Not bad for a week and a half old site i'd say.

Thanks, links are up! Traffic has jumped up just from webmasters looking around, only 1 visitor recorded for the contest so far

With 2 days left the stats for the contest are as follows:

$29 in links sold since the contest started, 197 uniques sent from the contest alone.

The current leader has sent 63 uniques while 2,3 in the contest are at 45 and 43. Contest is still anyone's to take. The first link on the page has received about 9 clicks a day. Will probably follow up this contest with an even bigger contest.
