I am posting this thread since I want to warn anybody that has thoughts about making an account with onestopserver hosting!

First off one month ago, they were OVERSELLING LIKE CRAZY! They sold 1000 GB Bandwith shared hosting for 6.99 a year!!!!!! Talk about overselling! ANd unlimited bandwith was 9.99 a year! Which REALLY cracked me up! That's not the point though.

Let me begin by saying how professional they are....not too professional. Server went down atleast 1-2 hours PER DAY! Loading times were horrible! Horrible! Cpanel barely ever loaded under a minute! That's not all! These guys, kept writing stupid baby emails to everybody always saying that servers were down because of upgrades. Cmon, upgrades every single day? You got to be kidding me.

Memory usage was 70%! That is very bad usage!

But the funny stuff doesn't start there. After I transferred from Cpanel to RVSkin, the admin there opened my website anonymous ftp accounts without telling me! I just found out about it today! Can you believe that!? He also charged me extra for just explaining on how to set a nameserver on godaddy when I first registered. I had no other choice, or I would lose my money without getting the hosting.

Please be sure not to stick with these guys, you will be VERY dissapointed. I had alot of friends and people I knew host there and they were all dissapointed. In a minute I will edit this topic with an url to another thread somehwere that had the biggest complaint against onestopserver so you can all see. I am just giving advice, so you don't lose your dollars to the wrong person.

Here's a discussion about it from another forum:

Just trying to keep you away from the bad hosts. :]. So, Thanks for reading. Until next time...

I bought six months ago.

The reason I bought at that time is because I was new to hosting and I was very cheap. I thought it wouldn't make a difference and unlimited sounded good at that time. Now I know alot more about hosting. I dont go for cheap stuff either :p.

Thanks for the offer, but I already got myself reliable hosting. I pay 20 dollars a month for 80 GB Bandwith and 6 GB storage. Server cpu usage is 0.03 and only had 4 websites on it! 2 which are completly empty. I siwtched right before I got shut down by onestopserver, btw they didn't give refund either!

Thanks again though!

OMG bluehost looks so professional! I wish I knew bluehost before I had transferred! Maybe for next month I'll transfer. I'll see how it goes!

BTW, thanks for the input netPH!

Some advice I usually give is to do a search on WebHostingTalk before buying hosting anywhere. I can't stand shared hosting now though, I live dedicated.

BTW, WHT is a good site for hosting issues. I'll stick with NamePros for my domain chat though.

Yah, generally any hosting that offers 500GB or more at a drop-dead rate, is most likely overselling like crazy. Given as most Server Places like SM, Ev1, Managed.com and more, only offer 1,000+ GB so if its less then $.05/GB chances are its crap.

I am using onestopserver.com and I think they give a very good product for the price they are offering.

Even on webhostingtalk forum, there are people who have had excellent experience with onestopserver.com

I guess, OneStopServer.com is not for the beginners, there have been some down times (maybe 15 to 30 minutes) , on non peak times. Usually I get a prior notifictaion via email, which is acceptable for me.

If I get a website making thousands of dollars per month, I will start worrying about 100% uptime. Right now, I am happy with 95~98% uptime

Just a happy OneStopServer customer. :)

Yea right, look at webhostingtalk. There are 4 hot topics that talk about how bad onestopserver is. Just do a search there keyword "onestopserver" and you'll see all 4 of them.

And yes, we HAD an excellent experience, that's when the server hosted about 100 websites. Oh yea! HAHA! I forgot to mention, you know ho many sites are hosted on onestopservers galaxy server?

Be prepared to be shocked.

1546

Yea, I guess that is EXCELLENT right?

Here don't believe me? http://www.whois.sc/onestopserver.com

Goodluck to whoever gets this. This guy ontop of me is either one of onestopserver's admin's friends or hasn't been using the server enough. On top of that, I don't know how you can say 95% uptime is good.

That's 8 hours and 40 minutes of downtime per week. And I know onestopserver is WAY worse than that. You can just figure that out by looking at the number of sites it hosts.

The CPU usage overloads everyday. The memory load is at it's minimum in it's 60%. That is very bad for a minimum. I've seen it in the 90's. Mysql is down very frequently. But hey no wonder, the guy hosts 1546 websites on one server all crammed together...That's why I am warning everybody not to go there.

He didn't even give me a partly refund after I wanted to withdraw from his service. He just shut down my account, saying I won't need it no more.

There's nothing you CAN do with it except use the Reverse IP tool and you have to be a member and pay inorder to fully use it. This is a regular whois...

This thread is SO old, anyways I don't know how I found it :)

I myself was hosting with them. I had an "unmetered reseller pack" for $4 a year. The server hosted 400+ domains, in 2 days it got to 600+ (since I wasn't the only one hosting "unlimited" space). The forum was shut down because of so many many negative responses to them. The guy was a jerk, saying that he affords everything and the business pays off.

Now the domain is parked some place :) The worst host I ever dealt with. Not even a host...
