I think it could be the forums is taking a toll on the server but sometimes it says that someone posted last but it was someone else.

Just wanted to bring this up.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

I think you mean in the Reg Team forum.

The reason for that is because people post in the private threads but it doesn't show the name of the private thread.. so instead it will show the last posted in main thread
(if that makes any sense)

Ive noticed it on the domain for sale and the break room. It seems fine now but last nigh (my time) and yesterday during the busy hours it was like that. :)

If you're cruising along the site a lot at any particular busy period, and happen to be on the home page and notice a "last post", then stay there for a brief period/pause, and then enter the particular Forum ... it is possible someone could have posted the instant before you got there to the Forum, hence changing the "last post" from what you saw at the home page. This can happen quickly ... and I have come across this, as well.
That's my thinking here, versus any "glitch". :)
B-)

I think glitch was the wrong word but what happens is that say i post in a thread.

Well on the main page it says the last thread posted in was the thread i posted in but it wasnt me and when you check it was me and that other person had posted in a different thread.

I know what the problem is:

If someone posts a thread of there own, then someone else posts a NEW thread, and then the first person posts in thier own thread, then thier message is tacked onto the original post, and the newest user is changed, but the newest post is not.

Poster1 posts thread A
Poster2 posts thread B
Poster1 replies in his own thread (A)
`> This message is added onto his original post, and the last post info is not updated corectly.

The problem lies in the mod that prevents the double posting

Redhippo ... seems like the one you noted is a case of the Auction moving swiftly, bids increasing ... but you grabbing a quote that had not yet been updated by the thread starter, reflecting the rapid bids, increased bidding IMHO. You would have to base your competitive bids on the (most recent) posts being made, not the thread starter's voluntary and intermittent summations. Again, I see no "technical" issues there.

On the matter here, I think KodeKing has given us the answer ... to do with the "double-posting" feature, scenario outlined.
It's no big shakes, as far as I can see ... and RJ can confirm.
Thanks, guys (and gals). :)

Right, that seems to be the case. As for the last post information displaying on the home page, consider this to be an aproximation of the last post and view it under the disclaimer that the information displayed should not be relied upon for critical purposes.

p.s. thanks for the bug report.

Not at all ... always looking for feedback and any potential "buggies". I just had a difficult time trying to figure out exactly what you were trying to say.
No worries.
