How do I whether a domain name has been dropped? Is checking the whois creation date enough? The website I use is whois.domaintools.com
The creation date in the WHOIS record typically shows the date on which it was created but if it was dropped (effectively deregistered) then that date would show the date on which it was registered after being dropped. A domain can be removed from the zonefile and be restored without dropping. Thanks for the reply. Actually, I am trying to buy a domain name off someone and the creation of the domain is in 2002. I would like to know if it is possible that the domain had expired and re-registered but the creation date shown in domaintools shows otherwise?
