I would say in almost every case it does decrease the value. “The” makes sense in some cases, like theboss.com, because it isn’t just any boss, it is THE boss. However, boss.com is still definitely a more valuable name. In your example I think TreeofLife.com would be quite a bit more valuable.

Yes. Adding "the" would make a difference, under most circumstances. If "the" is appropriately placed, then fine, (the boss, the people, the gamers), but almost certainly more value without
