Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

If there's one positive thing to mention, it's that @Atom.com shows no reluctance to change. They're genuinely open to continuous improvement and criticism. Still, Atom shouldn't try to keep too many plates spinning at once, chasing a new innovation every day. Focusing more on the quality and stability of what already exists makes sense now, so as not to disappoint its loyal customer base.

Even Apple does this. It has repeatedly paused new features to focus on stability, most famously with 2009's "Snow Leopard" release, and again in 2018 and 2023 when it delayed features to fix bugs. Consolidating before adding more isn't losing momentum, it's standard practice even for the biggest players.

Atom really needs to fix all the bugs introduced with the new UI and then take some time off and give us all a break.

This near-constant beta testing and bug reporting can get overwhelming at times, and I seriously doubt all this chaos does anything to increase sales.
There is an old saying:
If at first you do not succeed, then try, and try, and try again. ... Then give up. You do not want to act as a fool!

@Atom.com
When we open domain from phone browser at first the full page will show everything but not the price ,
We have to scroll down to see the price !
I thought the part of secure transaction / fast transfer / flexible payments should be below the price, Not above !!

@Atom.com interesting response from your Ai. After all, naming agents with human first names is quite popular.

I asked Claude and it agreed.
I figured I should get a second opinion so I asked Kimi. It also agreed.
I considered asking others like Mindy, Kay, Lindy, Norm, & Hugo, but figured they'd say the same.

Credit card and Apple Pay icons have disappeared from the landing page for Standard and Plus listings.

It seems there was a brief period when it worked (it was showing in the same place as usual under the logo on a domain page) and now it's stopped again. At this point I'm not sure if it's a bug or if it's intentional.

Seems like it was intentional after all, the past new logo emails had a button to rate the logo and mentioned gaining an AI credit for acceptance or sending to a designer:

The new emails have no button and make no mention of this however:

This links to Atom's new logo maker tool: https://www.atom.com/logo-maker

No more adding domains via instant, and then accepting the logo for a free credit after 😄

@Atom.com (still tagging you despite your silence to several of my previous posts):

One of my Premium listings (instantly approved) is showing the automated estimate value on the Appraisal Tool, instead of the listed value as it's the norm for each and every other Premium-tier domain.

Coincidentally, it's a very misaligned estimate, signifcantly lower (20x+) than all the comps the tool lists on the same appraisal result's page.

This is seriously harmful to my position as the seller, and it undermines whatever chances I might have.

I'm not sure how I feel about this homepage redesign, but based on how much I've seen it lately, it looks like Atom's pretty committed to it. Definitely less cluttered...

Yes, that time again.

What happened?

The web server reported a gateway time-out error.

What can I do?

Please try again in a few minutes.

@Atom.com By what time will this be resolved so that sellers can view their Dashboard and portfolios again?

As a buyer today of a 4 figure name I could not checkout at atom, got timeout error. If I was listing here, I would be very concerned.

Hi everyone, a quick update on today's incident.

The platform was hit with a DDoS attack. We see attacks like these almost daily, and our systems typically mitigate them automatically without any impact. Today's attack took about 17 minutes to fully mitigate. During those 17 minutes, several pages experienced degraded performance.

Our goal is always zero disruption. At the same time, DDoS attacks are an ongoing reality for platforms operating at scale. Most are absorbed automatically, while occasionally a larger or different attack pattern can take longer to mitigate.

This is also why we keep adding security and resilience layers across our infrastructure. As part of that work, we're moving our white-label sites behind Cloudflare as well.

@Atom.com I notice you've gradually removed the assessment text returned by the instant premium check telling you why a name was accepted or rejected. Is this because it's quite resource intensive or related to the DDoS attacks? Will you likely add it back at some point? I genuinely found it quite useful.

Other platforms don't have as many outages.

The Dashboard also crashed in the past when a single seller made a bulk price adjustment. That is simply bad design and has little to do with DDoS.

@Atom.com

Accepting and refreshing goes in circles.

Granted two of the three names may not have root words, but then please don't show that alert on my dashboard.

I'm seriously flattered that my domain is ranking high for the search term ".org".

I couldn’t find an option to remove the logo at the top of WLM. In Atomic Chat, they told me that once a logo is set at the top of WLM, it can’t be removed. wth? Why is it designed this way?
