BrandPa.com has announced their presence on NamePros...
Hi there! I'm sorry your experience with BB wasn't pleasant :/ If you'd like to try our marketplace please don't hesitate to do so :) We're new in the domaining industry but very eager to learn! Let me know what you think or if you have any questions :) This is us: https://brandpa.com/ (or if you'd like to read about the sellers' rules visit this page: https://brandpa.com/start-selling)

Look forward to hearing from you!
Granted, the above post is from the BrandBucket experience thread, and will likely be deleted for being off topic / wrong thread, it was the first time I heard of them. The founder, @Jowita Emberton, had introduced herself in an earlier thread:

Hi guys! NamePros is a great website to get invaluable information about the domaining industry. As a reader, I'm here pretty much every day. As a writer, I'm starting today :)

I'm the founder of Brandpa (brandpa.com), a domain name marketplace similar to BB, BR or Namerific. We use AI and human knowledge to create and judge the names’ value according to how easy to pronounce and catchy they are.

I'm here to learn, get to know you and your recent experiences with other brandable name marketplaces :) We're still developing the business so any insight on our site (brandpa.com) or anything you're missing from other marketplaces will be very useful :)

Thanks!

I'm creating this thread to discuss their marketplace, and for those who have experiences with them.

Here's what I know so far:

The founder, @Jowita Emberton, runs two other online businesses according to her LinkedIn page.

Delighten.co.uk - Web / brand design firm.

Weddination.com - Polish wedding services

According to her LinkedIn, she has been operating BrandPa since August 2016. Though, the last cached Archive.org screenshot is a server error on October 4, 2016 HERE

BrandPa.com (2006) is registered to Oliver Emberton, founder and managing director of SilkTide.com.

Currently, there are 562 domains published / listed on BrandPa. It appears most domains listed are handregged by the owners. Not 100% on this; I will run a check when my program is working again.

After reviewing their listings, I found two errors.

upload_2017-2-20_14-26-8.png The domain regged is MonoRaptor.com, but the text reads ManoRaptor.com

upload_2017-2-20_14-27-32.png The domain regged is UnknownVenues.com, but the text reads UnknownVenus.com

At first look:

Pros
  • No Listing Fee
  • FREE Logos
  • Domain Owner sets price ($1,000+)
  • Forwards all offers for sellers consideration
  • Brandpa is a pretty memorable / catchy brandable domain.
  • Select 'On-Sale' marketing section
upload_2017-2-20_14-34-49.png

Cons
  • Low Alexa Ranking (4,557,819)
upload_2017-2-20_14-36-32.png
  • New site. Assuming low organic traffic, and low type-in traffic due to quality and quantity of inventory.
  • Piggy-back branding off BrandBucket in site footer see below
upload_2017-2-20_14-45-31.png

upload_2017-2-20_14-41-42.pngupload_2017-2-20_14-42-20.pngupload_2017-2-20_14-43-14.png upload_2017-2-20_14-43-54.png

  • Reviews are all from .co.uk domains, yet BrandPa doesn't sell any .co.uk domains. A quick glance at other domains owned by the reviewers and I wasn't able to verify any brandable .com's with history tracing back to BrandPa.
upload_2017-2-20_15-10-41.png

Personal thoughts: I respect that they "allow the seller to submit more domain names" by not charging a listing fee. To me this shows they are willing to work for your exclusivity. Should they gain popularity, I wonder if they'll sustain this business model and/or if their logo / listing quality will decrease over time when resources are spread across the masses.

@Jowita Emberton = Feel free to comment / fill in any of the blanks. :penguin:

Yeah, great news from Brandpa.

My latest review on Brandpa....

Month ago, I was about to to cancel names, then I received a lead, which lead me to tell them to cancel the cancelations

During this time they brought a bunch of new updates to their platform that I am happy about.

Just made that sale for $5K ( shares in sales thread)

And support has always been kind to me.

Do to all this I will be sticking around BP a while longer

Oliver from Brandpa here. We don't spend a lot of time on NamePros, it's true!

Just caught up on this thread, and there are a few things that were out of date, so I thought I'd update you:

1. Listing fees dropped to $5 for everyone in March 2021: https://sellers.brandpa.com/lower-listing-fees-faster-changes-and-more/ (if they're $6 for you, it'll be because of VAT, which is applied in the UK + EU)

2. Agree with @pixabrand that it's often worth asking our designers for the logo you want (all sellers get to chat with our designers for that reason, but not all do). A competitive logo can definitely make a sale more likely, and we have data to prove it.

3. We now allow sellers to change the price of a domain every 30 days, at your discretion, unless it's currently under offer / being sold. We also now let you remove domains instantly and list on other marketplaces.

4. We added a range of perks for better sellers (e.g. free listings), more here: https://sellers.brandpa.com/introducing-seller-levels-and-benefits/

5. The loss of domain statistics was temporary, and we brought back significantly improved stats for all our sellers in March: https://sellers.brandpa.com/the-return-of-analytics-and-the-end-of-hotness/

Hope this helps!

Are you planning to add other payout options in the near future? I would rather not use wise and revolut? Thanks.

Its not that difficult. If you can't do wise or revolut, Sign up with payoneer, provide bp with your GBP global service account and get paid in pounds via payoneer.

Yes, absolutely. We're hard at work on much improved options right now.

Will they make payments to PayPal anymore? What is the problem? Is this Brexit effect?

A new version of Brandpa is coming soon, according to an email from them asking to take a survey.

Always good to see marketplaces innovate, so will be interesting to see. They already have a pretty good seller control panel, I think.

Innovative? Lol.

Didn't know they are still existing.

SquadHelp is the innovation guru.

On the Brandpa landing pages is the "how to pronounce" button working for you? I tried it with both Firefox and Google Chrome (latest versions), Javascript enabled, sound and volume is turned on, but I can't hear anything. So on the domain name landing pages, when you click on the icon which is supposed to play a sound of how the domain name sounds when spoken aloud.

This same feature works for me on other websites, so I guess the issue is with the Brandpa website. Is it working for you?

What about this 20% VAT which is charged on top of the prices, if the customer is from the UK or from the EU?

There is no field to enter a valid EU VAT number during the checkout. I thought that if the customer is from the EU but the customer has a valid EU VAT number, then the VAT rate will be 0%. But there is no field during the checkout process to enter a valid EU VAT number, so there is always 20% VAT on top of the prices, if the billing country is either UK or an EU country.

I am not familiar with the latest Brexit regulations, but are you sure that EU companies with valid EU VAT numbers should pay this 20% UK VAT?

We are talking about 20% extra charge, this is not a small amount.

I can't find any phone numbers on the landing pages, will it affect the conversion rates? There is no live chat either.

What is your general experience with Brandpa these days?

I am planning to list my brandable domains here which were rejected by both Brandbucket and Squadhelp...

If I pay the 5 USD / domain fee, then will I receive more traffic than simply listing these domains on Dan.com?

In either cases I would list the domains on Dan/Afternic/Sedo. I am just wondering whether Brandpa can drive enough extra traffic to justify the 5 USD / domain fee and the 25% commission.

Because the commission on Dan is only 9%. But if Brandpa could drive enough extra traffic to my domains, then it would be worth to pay these extra fees to Brandpa.

So what is better: Dan landing pages + Afternic and Sedo, or Brandpa landing pages + Dan, Afternic and Sedo?

Brandpa is a brandable domain marketplace just like SH and BB. Sell through rate is also excellent.

If you spend 5$ per domain, they create a logo and description. Its worth it as their commission is 5% lesser too.

Also, after a few sales you can even save those 5$ per domain as you will get free listings on a monthly basis based on your seller level.

Also, they will not ask for any commission, if your domain sells on afternic or sedo and you have the option to instantly remove your domain from their marketplace unlike others.

Try to buy any domain name, and if the billing country is the UK or any EU country, then there is no way to remove that 20% extra charge!

Any active BrandPa sellers here?

I contacted the support 2 days ago, but I still haven't received an answer, is it normal?

I am reading this support article:

https://resources.brandpa.com/knowledgebase/what-is-vat-and-how-does-it-apply-to-prices/

VAT (Value Added Tax) is a tax applied on domains bought in the EU. If you are based in an EU country, the price of the domain may increase to include your country’s VAT rate.
If you are in an EU country you will be asked to provide a VAT number. If you are not in the UK and you provide a valid VAT number, Brandpa will not charge you VAT, as this is handled by your own country.

But in reality the 20% UK VAT is always charged if the billing country is an EU country, and there is no field to enter the EU VAT number during the checkout. This is 20% extra charge, which is a lot.

Does anyone know the correct answer?

And please test the "how to pronounce the domain name" function on the BrandPa website, is it working for you? For me it isn't working at all, I can't hear anything.

Big update regarding BrandPa, they have fixed the VAT issue: if the customer is from an EU country, then now it is possible to enter a valid EU VAT number during the checkout. And EU customers with valid EU VAT numbers will pay 0% VAT!

Does anyone know what the current rule for listing Brandpa names at other marketplaces are? i cannot see anything about it on their website.

And just to confirm: Can listings at Brandpa be removed immediately?

You can list them wherever you want without restrictions.

Has anyone had any action at Brandpa lately? I have only had some names there for about three weeks, but just wondering.

It doesn't look like they are doing a lot of promotion. The latest tweet was on February 17. On the other hand, they just published the pretty thorough The State of The Domain Industry 2023 report. So it is difficult to tell how active the marketplace is.

No answer from their support for two days. But some sellers says they get sales there, so I am still unsure about how well Brandpa works

I used to have 3 sales per year on average.

Then nothing since April 2022.

FWIW

Thanks.

I have a name that has had the status "You can't change the list price at this time, as a possible sale is in progress" for more than a week, but I am not sure if this means somebody put it in the cart and didn't proceed or something else because there are no inquiries for the name in my account.

That is why I reached out to support, but they haven't replied yet.

Edit: They did just reply. That status means Brandpa is negotiating with a possible buyer.

Maybe they got an offer lower than your floor price and they are negotiating with the buyer to try to get their offer to the minimum. It's happened to me a couple of times that they send me a message explaining there is an offer that is below my floor price even though they tried to get the buyer there, and asked me if I wanted to accept it or decline it.

Edit: I just saw your edit in real-time. Glad they replied. The no reply part was a bit concerning.

I have 270 names listed there and last year I sold 4 - I sold 5 names each year in 2021 and 2020 - I have had no sales so far this year.

I've tried it a few times and some have ended up as sales and others that didn't come to anything and the name was just listed again
