Hi guys! NamePros is a great website to get invaluable information about the domaining industry. As a reader, I'm here pretty much every day. As a writer, I'm starting today :)

I'm the founder of Brandpa (brandpa.com), a domain name marketplace similar to BB, BR or Namerific. We use AI and human knowledge to create and judge the names’ value according to how easy to pronounce and catchy they are.

I'm here to learn, get to know you and your recent experiences with other brandable name marketplaces :) We're still developing the business so any insight on our site (brandpa.com) or anything you're missing from other marketplaces will be very useful :)

Thanks!

Welcome to NamePros! Just curious, what extensions are most used in the UK?
Hi CJ6.
It depends. If the companies want to establish themselves as local, they go with a .co.uk domain name (unless these are not available then they choose a .co one). The companies that aim to become global go for a '.com' domain name. A friend of mine has recently purchased a domain name for about $40,000. His clients come from the US, Australia, Europe and South America. He's global so he got a domain name with a global domain name extension.

I hope it helps.

@CJ6 it's still .co.uk
If you own the .co.uk then you automatically have the rights to the .uk until 10 June 2019 after which you lose automatic rights and have to register the .uk to keep it. (AFIK)

.uk hasn't really taken off and it may be because all the decent domains have just kept the .uk's on hold until they absolutely have to use them. Also quite a few sales have sold the .co.uk but kept the .uk so it may warm up later.

It also refers to the domain name length: the shorter the better.
